Is anyone else guilty of this?

buying baby clothes even though there is no baby yet? Chat Icon

I have been buying infant dresses & my DH would kill me if he found out especially since we agreed to hold off until early next year to start trying again.

With DD I did not do this before I got pregnant and found out the sex. Once I knew the sex I went crazy.

I would try to refrain for a number of reasons-you could be buying for the wrong season, the wrong size, the wrong gender.

yes - i have TONS of baby stuff in the basement. We were in our local k-mart and found a clearance section where very good quality baby stuff was marked down to 1.00 and up. Got Disney baby stuff ror .75 cents...etc....

Re: Is anyone else guilty of this?

When we first started TTC I was taking in hand me downs from family. I even had a changing table given to me.

I since have either put them far away or have given them away.

Re: Is anyone else guilty of this?

No, I was and would be afraid to do so until the baby shower at least. That's just me - I had a nonviable pregnancy already.

Re: Is anyone else guilty of this?

No - I don't want to torture myself.

I was pregnant January - March and bought a few things at 10 weeks before I miscarried at 11. Knowing they're in my house makes me very sad. Chat Icon

Re: Is anyone else guilty of this?

Personally, I wouldn't feel comfortable buying anything baby related before getting pregnant. I'm almost 21 weeks and although I've started registering, I haven't bought anything for the baby.

Re: Is anyone else guilty of this?

No and yes. I do have one Mets onsie I bought awhile ago, for when I get my long awaited BFP, I can wrap it up and give it to DH. But I do not plan on buying anything until I have a baby.My best friend has a few things she bought for my unconceived child that she is holding at her house for when I have a baby.

Re: Is anyone else guilty of this?

no. i love to look, but i never buy. i want to be surprised and do all those things when i am actually pregnant or shortly after. also, it's hard to think about, but so many people miscarry and what not, i would not waste my time or money on things until it was necessary.

No i dont buy anything. I dont believe in superstitions so thats not why. #1 i dont have any room in my 2 bedroom apt for it and #2- i just want to buy things when the time comes.

I bought my moses basket when we started "trying". It stayed in a closet for a while, but evenutally got used.

I'm trying not to look for this baby as I am more superstious now.Chat Icon

I am not superstitiuous. I can always save the adorable stuff I purchased and give as gifts. I am a little obsessed. Only my closest friends know that I have purchased them (people may think I am crazy). I will sell them on Ebay if I don't need them. I always buy on sale/clearance items.
