Binky/Pacifier question

Which one do you plan on using when they first come home from the hospital? There are SO many types and I just don't know which ones to steralize. I don't want to steralize all of them in case Chat Icon dosen't want the binky. But, I want to be prepared.

Re: Binky/Pacifier question

ONLY ONLY ONLY use the soothies (the one posted above in the pic). The don't come apart - they are completely ONE piece. The nurses in the hospital told me they are the safest.

Re: Binky/Pacifier question

The only binky Hayley would take was the Nuk. She hated the Soothie (in the picture above) and the Mam ones.

Re: Binky/Pacifier question

with my dd they didnt give me a pacifier for her.. but i wanted her to use one b/c they say it reduces the chances of SIDS. I used the silicon gerber nuk orthodontic b/c they say they dont do damage to the babys mouth over time. Going to use the same with baby #2

My son loves the Nuk paci's. He hates the Mam's and he is "OK" with the Soothie. He isn't crazy about the Soothie.

Re: Binky/Pacifier question

I heard you're not supposed to introduce a binky until a breastfeeding routine is firmly established (4-6 weeks) Chat Icon

We're registered for a phillips advent... Bluntly, I refuse to use a binky that is made in china, and those are the only ones that I could confirm online that aren't......

FYI, there is a review of the soothies on amazon where a parent cautioned that they're a choking hazard. The entire pacifier slipped into the mouth of her 6 mo old and he began to choke. mercifully, they heard it in the other room and could yank it out from the back of his mouth.......

I am leaning away from breastfeeding b/c of medications that I am on. So, the nurse from our lamaze/birthing class told us to bring a pacifier to the hospital with us, but it is optional.

These are the only ones that are one piece. The rest are more than one piece and can break off.

My daughter would only take the MAM pacifiers. Every baby is different. Good luck

Re: Binky/Pacifier question

DD got a mam in the hospital and didn't like it. She ONLY liked the old school Gerber round pacis and as she got older, she got less picky.

DS got a soothie, but it covered his nostrils, so we got the Gerber Nuk and he took to that.

Both got silicone and not latex

The hospital gave us a few of these, they were the only ones DS even remotely liked! we tired about 4 different versions before truly accepting we did not have a binky baby!
