When did you /will you have your ultra screen?
I thought it was done at 11 to 13 weeks, but when I asked my Dr. at my 13 week check up he said at 16 to 20 weeks.

ultrscreen is done between 11w6d and 13w6 after 14w it is not as effective

When Should The Test Be Done?
The test should be performed between 11 weeks 1 day and 13 weeks 6 days of pregnancy. In some cases, the patient may elect to have the blood test performed at a different time than the ultrasound exam. The blood test can be performed at anytime between 9 weeks 0 days and 13 weeks 6 days.

I had mine at 12 weeks and had my level II at 20 weeks

Hmm. Yeah the ultrascreen -also called 1st tri screen-has to be done by 13w 6d. Maybe he was referring to the quad screen? (this is usually done between 16 and 18weeks

Now I'm getting upset...why would they not do it. I mean I had a sonogram at 9 and a half weeks, but I would know if that were an ultra screen...right? It was so wierd because I just asked the nurse and she said 16 to 20 weeks and then to double check I referred to the downs syndrome screening and again she said 16 to 20 weeks.
It seems that everyone else had it done earlier. This is a new dr for me too. This is making me mad. Why do they have to be different from everywhere else

Aww how far along are you? If when you clarified with downs screening they said 16 to 20 my guess is that they are talking about the quad screen which is a blood test only not sono. Typically when a woman has an ultrascreen it is then integrated with the quad results for the most accuracy in determining the ratio for downs.
It seems that the ultrascreen is pretty widely offered on LI but not as much in other places as it is a relatively new test - where are you located? I'm in CT and at my OB practice you have to have certain risk factors to have them offer it. I am low risk so doc just recommended quad screen for me but I opted for the ultrascreen in addition. As far as I know and based on everything I've read an ultrascreen won't be done after the first tri so I would ask them to explain to you what your test will entail.

If you wan it done at 12 weeks, then you have to tell your Dr. I had the same issue with my doctor over my ultrascreen. Voice your concern there's no reason why she shouldn't write you a script for it!!!

12w 5d I had my ultrascreen.
The sequential test (AFP) was done at 17 weeks...Maybe that's what he thought you meant?
There are so many names for the tests...

Mine was at 11w3d. I had my AFP test done at 15w5d. Maybe thats what your doctor was referring to?
