UPDATED: (repost) To HSG or not to HSG
Seems like there are a lot of HSG posts lately! Anyway, here is my repost:
Before TTC again, would you guys get an HSG on your remaining tube if you only had one tube left?
I just had an ectopic where my right tube was removed, so I only have my left tube remaining. My doctor said my left tube looked normal during the laparscopy, but she didn't do an HSG at that time. She said if I want one she can do it in 3 weeks. I hear the procedure hurts and I'm a little scared. Is it worth doing it even if my remaining tube looked ok during the laparascopy? If I get pregnant again they will monitor me oh so closely anyway. What do you think?

UPDATED: Just FYI: I definitely do not mean to sound like a little bit of pain would stop me from TTC... It is the timing of everything right now. I've just had an extremely painful surgery & recovery (resulting in likely decreased chances of fertility) and the idea of having more go on with those parts turns my stomach right now - however, if there is a definite benefit and increase to my fertility, it is worth it to me. Maybe it is just the timing and I need a few weeks off. I only had the tube removed 7 days ago. Thanks for the insight and info!

To be perfectly honest, I would do ANYTHING (reasonable of course) to increase my chances of getting pregnant.
If my doctor told me to stand on my head after BDing because that would help... I'd start practicing my handstands!
Pregnancy, having birth.. they are painful. I'll take a little pain or even a lot so that I can have a baby.
JMO of course.

It's really not that painful. For me, it was uncomfortable for about 6 seconds and then it was over.
As the PP stated, childbirth is much more painful so just keep it in perspective. I would do it if the doctor agreed to. Why not make sure that everything is good to go if you have the option?

Gosh I know you have been through so much lately and it must be very trying - emotionally and physically.
I just meant that I would do anything to increase my chances, and from what I have heard.. the HSG can provide really useful information and some women get pregnant soon after.

You so did not sound mean! I just thought I sounded like a big baby who wouldn't do a procedure if it would hurt and I wanted to edit myself! I totally appreciate all the info you always share!!! thank you so much xoxo

Well, you know I just had one done and it was extremely painful but I also said that I am super sensitive in that area.
I have heard that people who can't get pg get pg after having that proceedure done. That is not the case with you. You didn't have trouble getting pg.
I would TTC without getting one done and if after a couple of months you have no luck then maybe consider one.

You didn't sound like a baby at all- you are just in the process of recovering still, and not eager to jump into anything that might be painful- totally understandable!
You are already taking a few months to get your body back together, so if you are really concerned about the other tube, maybe have the HSG if you don't get pregnant within a few months of trying again.
I have known a few people who conceive shortly after that test, so keep that in mind, too!
