How do I make a baby?

I mean really this is all so overwhelming for me and out of control. I feel like a moron reading all this stuff--- between charting, temping, cough syrup, what the hell?

honestly nan, don't get all crazy JUST YET over charting and whatnot....I didn't do any of that and made 2 babies in no time flat!!! It may not be something you even have to look into, you might be blessed with easy TTCing!!!!

What I would suggest is going to Dollar Tree and buying a bunch of OPK (ovulation prdeictor kits)

Pee on the stick when you might be ovulation, I started on CD12 or so and did it for a few days.

The kit tells you everything you need to know.

If that doesn't work after a few months we'll move onto new measures.

Lemme know if you need help, i TOTALLY understand the anxiety....and I would totally love to help you make a baby!!! well, you KWIM!

At first I hated the OPK because I felt it didn't work, I tried them again last month because I thought I was Oing on the 14 day when in fact it came sometimes early or later in my cycle. I do the cough syrup also, I am trying the patient method in hopes that it works. HTH

My best suggestion is to just start paying attn to your periods and when you O. For a newbie (unless youre completely anxious to get PG) i dont think you need to worry about temping, charts, pre-seed, etc etc.

Get yourself a got OPK and get moving

don't overwhelm yourself with it. I still don't know what alot of the abreviations mean.

If you are just starting out, I honestly wouldn't worry about any of that stuff.

Just figure out when you are going to O and then hit the bedroom !

You can worry about all of that other stuff a few months from now (if you are still here). Good Luck!!!

I'm going to give some new advice since I think I am better understanding the purpose of your post.

If you're just asking about the first steps in TTC, then I think my best advice is that you join a website like mymonthlycycles.com or fertilityfriend.com and enter in the dates of your last couple periods. They will generate and approximate ovulation date and expected AF date for you and you can try to BD around the predicted ovulation date.

Or, you can just try to BD every other day after AF ends until you expect AF. That's probably the most basic (although tiring!) way to start to TTC.

If those don't work, then I'd suggest trying OPKs to get a better idea of when you O. And try to BD at least 2 days before, 1 day before, the day of, and the day after you ovulate.

Hi Nancy!

I suggest starting to get to know your cycle and your approximate O day and then having some wine and fun with DH to start.

I was also super anxious at the beginning of TTC so our first month we just kind of "threw caution to the wind" so to speak...did not use an OPK, chart, temp, etc. Just tried the good old fashioned way. Of course, once I learned a little bit more about my body and how my cycle worked I realized I was off on my days, which is why like Gina said using an OPK is a good idea if you want to avoid this.

Second month I still didn't do any of the ttc methods that many use, but because I had been getting used to the cycles, I noticed my CM was somewhat nonexistent (tmi, sorry) and used Mucinex (starting at CD10) to loosen it up. I didn't notice much difference, but DH did. Not sure if that's what did the trick, or if we were better with the timing, but I got my BFP that month.

There is a book that a lot of ladies on here recommend called Taking Charge of your Fertility by Toni Weschler. I never got around to reading it, but from what I gather it helps break things down in layman's terms about what's going on and when. I was totally clueless when it came to TTC (mostly still am) and maybe this would help. Like I said, it helped my anxiety to just "see what happened" at first, rather than wrap myself up in trying to control, track, etc. every little thing.

LOL, I was thinking the same thing. I wasn't really thinking about how completed this would be. It's seems more like work than fun.
