Rhogam shot

I am RH negative so i have to get the rhogam shot at 28weeks. I was just wondering if anyone else had to do this. My doctor wrote me a prescription to pick up the shot from the hospital on saturday. he said to tell them that i am really taking it up to the L&D floor but i will really take it to him. then i have my appt on tuesday so i will have to refrigerate the shot unitl then. i feel so uncomfortable doing this and dont understand why they do not get the shot for me...Has anyone ever heard of this?? TIA

Re: Rhogam shot

depending on your insurance, you can be responsible for getting it. i almost had to, but at the last minute they were able to order it. it really isn't a big deal and is common according to my office. i wasn't concerned when i thought i had to do it. try not to worry!!!Chat Icon

I had to pick up the shot with my first pregnancy. With my son they had it for me. I don't think they had the refrigeration necessary to keep it with my first. Don't worry about it.

I had to get the shot. The doctor had it in his office, I did not have to pick it up. I had to get it again in the hospital and they had it there.

I had it at 6 weeks bc of some light bleeding, and will have it again at 28 weeks...it's no big deal. I had my first one in the ER, so I don't know much about getting it for my doctor.

I had the RX written and took it to CVS where they told me my RX coverage would not cover it.

After a few phone calls, I found out that my medical coverage pays for it as a medical procedure. I had to call a special company, they dealt with my MD, and delivered it to the office.

Re: Rhogam shot

i had it after my m/c and I was responsible for getting it. I have no idea why. And I also don't understand why some insurances don't cover such an important thing!Chat Icon Thank god mine did!
