What is proper etiquette as far as arriving? Do/did you show up when the guests were or before or after? DH and I were just discussing and I'm unsure what to do. Obviously, I don't want to make a grand appearance and act surprised since most people know I know about the shower. Any thoughts?

I think if you know about it it would be nice to be there first so you can greet each of your guests as they arrive.

It's great to know, cause you can be sure you look really cute!Chat Icon

I got there about 10 minutes prior to all the guests arriving. My mom, sister, MIL and two aunts were already there. Once I was there I just greeted the rest of my guests as they arrived.

I greeted everyone as they got there. It was really the only time I could talk to people one on one because once the shower starts it's a blur.

I showed up about 5 minutes late, but not on purpose. I think the right thing to do is show up on time.

Thanks ladies - that is what I figured, showing up a little early. It will probably fly by as it is, so it would be nice to get to say hello to everyone personally before it starts in case I don't get to later.

I will be there to greet everyone. I actually should have done the same thing at my bridal shower since no matter how much I tried to convince people that I was "really suprised", they all knew Chat Icon

I wasn't surprised with DD, and I won't be surprised this time either. I am a control-freak and like to plan everything.

I was at the venue before the guests arrived last time, and will be this time as well.

Re: those who were not surprised for their shower...

I think you should come in later than the guests and you don't have to act to surprised, but you can still be surprised about the set up and all of the gifts.

Re: those who were not surprised for their shower...

My shower is coming up at the end of June and I plan on going to the restaurant with my mom and sisters to help set up and to be there when everyone gets there. Otherwise, I feel like if I get there late, then everyone wants to say hi all at once. Rather take my time and talk to everyone as they get there... have fun at your shower Chat Icon

Re: those who were not surprised for their shower...

I would ask whoever is hosting the shower for you when they want you to arrive. For my shower I arrived @ 10 minutes after the official start time on the invite.

I showed up after the guests since even though it wasn't a surprise, it was still fun to make an entrance. I live out of town and most hadn't seen my preggo belly- it was really fun.
