Neighbor is Dealing Drugs. WWYD?

At this point it is very obvious. We don't have any kids but other people on our block do. Constant "shady" characters pulling up, someone walking in, or someone walking out.

Do we call the cops? I am really not happy about this.

ETA: I used to babysit these kids. Very dysfunctional family.

write an anonymous letter to the police and town hall.

you need to do something as it's not safe for you or your family. don't just let this go on

Chances are, the cops are already aware of it. But what can they really do, people are allowed to have visitors over...I think they would have to actually see a deal happening. But I guess it couldn't hurt to at least call and see what your options are.

I would call the police & just make them aware of it. I agree with Casey that they probably already know.

I don't know that you can be anonymous with a complaint. They may need to take your info to make it a solid complaint.

I am sure they know already but when you call, they have your name and number anyway so it will not be anynomous.

Every police department has a community affairs section. call the local precinct in your area, and make them aware of your situation. Like an earlier poster mentioned the regular street cops have their hands tied because they have to actually see a transaction being made to do something. And obviously they wont be siitting in front of your house 24 hrs a day. the community affairs department will hopefully use an undercover car to sit on that house if their are a number of complaints. There is a drug tip hotline. I recently called on my neighbors and they were extremly helpful. You can remain anoymous. I would call. Drugs are the downfall of our society imo. I think the number is 1800 drug tip, its in the phone book.

When DH was living in another part of LI we wrote a few anonymous letters... We sent one to the precinct and another to CPS because there were children in the house. He winded up moving from that house so we never knew what happened. I like to think they took my letter seriously.

I would definitely call the drug tip line..... it could bring weapons and other crimes into your neighborhood.....

I live on a dead end and the people in the house across the street from the opening of my block are/were dealing drugs too..the traffic on my block was ridiculous b/c of it. We noticed it b/c we are on the other end but all of a sudden we had a ton of street traffic!!!

We spoke the rest of the people in the neighborhood what they thought was going on...and gave them a run down on what we suspected.The "heads up" approach...

I guess they didnt like that everyone was watching them b/c that dont appear to be dealing out of the house any more...

Place an anonymous call to your precinct. Call from a pay phone or something. No need to have your name/number on record. Just voice your concerns; at least you'll have done something.

When I lived in my apt my neighbor was dealing. Someone made an anon. call and then they had detectives sitting down the block all the time watching this go own. He got arrested.
