Neighbor selling drugs

What would you do if you found out a neighbor was selling drugs out of their house? Always sort of suspected it but now it's confirmed. Besides calling the cops, which has been done. I don't know any of my neighbors all that well to form a block committee of some kind, in fact a neighbor is sorta friendly with the one family member and I see that person is friendly with other people on the block as well. I do know of 2 other neighbors who are also aware but no one seems to know exactly how to handle it.

This is a nice area but everyone knows that it's not just in bad areas. I never thought I'd find myself living on the same street as it and sometimes they are very obvious, although they dont think they are or they think they will never get in trouble? Not sure. What would your feelings be, angry, depressed, sad, power less. How would you handle it? Move?

I'm using a fake name here because you just never know who is lurking.

Re: Neighbor selling drugs

I would stay out of it-

why don't the police do anything when they are called? or maybe the are putting together a case?- it takes time- it doesn't happen overnight- they need to send people in to buy from this person

you saying they are selling drugs isn't enough to have them arrested- or even get a search warrent

Re: Neighbor selling drugs

why aren't the police doing something? Maybe you should call a detective or someone higher up b/c that is ridiculous!

Keep calling the police- I believe neighborhoods go downhill because people let them. You have to keep up on these things and don't expect others to.

I would call the police each time you saw a car there picking up. If you call them enough maybe they will do something about it. Is there a way you can have the neighbors sign a petition and then take that to the police or town or something?

Re: Neighbor selling drugs

While it's the police that should be handling this, sometimes it's not a top priority, and they have to build a case, and chances are that it's done by a different department w/in the force.

Selling drugs is a FEDERAL crime, so don't be afraid to call the FBI...yes, you can call them and report this.

I think there also might be a reward in store for you if they have enough evidence to arrest and convict.

Wow, the above advice is interesting. Maybe you should call the FBI too, on top of repeatedly calling the local police every time you see something going down. I'm curious- is this neighbor a teenager or an adult? I'm just wondering if it maybe is a different story if the person is underage.

Re: Neighbor selling drugs

I would say if the cops have been called already, they know and they are probably stalking them out.

You would be surprised though WHO sells and buys drugs. It is not just the low-lifes you imagine so everyone saying that it is horrible, you never know if your nice, clean cut neighbor is doing it too.

do you know if he is selling pot or hard drugs?

are you 110% positive they are dealing??

it takes a while, so im sure if you already called the cops are on it.

I agree. We had a neighbor one time doing this (they rented the bottom half of the house) and my dh spoke to another neighbor who was a cop and he knew before we did.

Chat Icon that's crazy! I would keep calling the cops and ask that you remain anonymous!

That is SOOOOOOO dangerous! GOD forbid there is ever a “problem” that can turn in to a shootout! I would not want that in my neck of the woods!

Re: Neighbor selling drugs

Chat Icon sorry........ that must be an awful feeling.......... I think continuing to call the police might be your only option..........unless...... maybe town hall??? maybe if there is an illegal apartment in the house, they can get them out that way???? GL

Re: Neighbor selling drugs

I would stay out of it.

When I lived in Bellmore my next door neighbor was dealing. We saw him put things in the mail box then a car came dropped an envelope in the mail box and picked up the envelope in the box. It was confirmed it was coke. My family lives across the street (we rented a house across from my aunt and unce and next to the dealer my cousins rented downstairs from us) They were friendly with the kids mother. But she was older and the son was so high I don't think she could control him. He was in and out of jail. Everyone knew this and we never saw them but WE KNEW that detectives were sitting somewhere on the block watching. Don't just Assume "they aren't doing anything"

Where I live now my next door neighbor was growing pot. We stayed out of it. They did get caught and were issued a apperance ticket.
