Leakage

When did they start to leak? I just want to know so I can be prepared Chat Icon If they don't is that a sign I won't be able to BF?

Re: Leakage

From what I understand, not everyone leaks. I do believe that I read somewhere that women that are mommies already may leak more than 1st time mommies. HTH! Chat Icon

Re: Leakage

32 weeks here and still nothing.

Midwife said most women won't leak. She said that when the placenta is born it sends a hormone to the breasts that will tell them to start producing milk.

Re: Leakage

SORRY IF TMI - I was a first time mom 2 months ago and didn't really "leak" but when I was in the shower around week 32 or so I saw the colostrum on one of my boobs. And if I put pressure on the boob or squeezed it, a little would come out. The milk came in the day after I delivered. But the other posters are right - not everyone "leaks" and I don't think you can tie that to whether you will be able to BF or not.

Re: Leakage

Not at all. Mine didn't leak with my first baby until 4 weeks before my due date, and I breastfed exclusively for one year.

I am 2 days shy from 36 weeks and haven't had any. For most women the milk doesn't come in until a couple of days after you give birth.
