Re: Are you going to be a SAHM?

I wish I could be a SAHM. Unforunately, since we bought our house I can't. I do work good hours and could have my mother or sister (who is a SAHM) watch my child.
Same here except my hours stink and my job is very stressful.

I would love to but with the house, we just can't do it right now. I'm hoping to work out some kind of work at home or PT thing with my job.

Re: Are you going to be a SAHM?
I became a SAHM to my two stepchildren when we got married almost 2 yrs ago, so i will continue to be one when the baby arrives. at first it was a big adjustment for me, after working f/t since i was a teen, and enjoying working in my field, it was strange at first. now, i'm totally used to it. it still is hard sometimes because things are a lil tighter with one income, i do miss having my own $$ to use for my ole shopping ways on diposable purchases, like unneccessary lip glosses, now things that we buy are alot less impulsive! i do miss the work itself, and the socializing part of it, but i wouldnt trade it now. i love the idea that i will have plenty of time for and my stepchildren, and not have to come home at the end of the day and do stuff and be dead tired. being stressed out and exhausted is one thing i definitely dont miss about working!

same here. my boss offered me to work from home once the baby comes and i am feeling up to some work...i don't know how long the offer stands for though. i am assuming he may want me back in the office after awhile. maybe we can work something out that i will go into the office part time and working from home a few days!! we'll see!!

Re: Are you going to be a SAHM?
I'm going to stay home. I totally understand how you feel and as much as being a SAHM is all I ever wanted and my DH is working his butt off to make it happen, it still makes me incredibly nervous. I'm afraid I might go out of my mind some days and might really miss the "real world." I'm going to take it as it comes though....I always knew this would be difficult for me but now that it is here it's more difficult than I ever thought it would be.

Re: Are you going to be a SAHM?
I think I'd like to be a SAHM...in theory...
...but I also just paid $40,000 for my Masters degree, and I can't fathom NOT working after having been through that torture...
We're going to play it by ear and see what happens. Knowing my personality, I wouldn't be able to stay home for too long without going insane.

No I want to go back to work.. I will work from home two days a week.. so I will be with the babies 4 days out of the week which is nice.. I am sure I will want to get out of the house the other three days.

Re: Are you going to be a SAHM?
I am planning on staying home for about 2 years. I am going to school for my masters in education and planning on switching careers and becoming a teacher. I think that being able to take classes will help with the adult interaction part of being home.
