To clomid or not to clomid, that is the question

Well, now that I have AF, I have a decision to make. My RE left a message saying our next plan of attack is a higher dosage of Clomid. But, I can't help but fear that this dose may not work either, considering my reaction to the first dose was such an anomaly for someone who has no problems ovulating on her own.

Part of me thinks, might as well go for it and if it doesn't work at least we'll know once and for all, and then I can move on to injectables.

Another part of me thinks, why am I torturing myself like this only to give myself a 10% higher chance of pregnancy? I have no problems ovulating, and if my only issue is Hostile CM, then I should be able to get pregnant with a natural IUI.

It's true, there's a chance I have endometriosis, which may be complicating things, but Clomid wouldn't help that anyway.

So, I have a decision to make by tomorrow. Go with the higher dose of Clomid, or give my body a month's rest, and go back to doing a natural IUI.

What do you ladies think?

Its hard to answer this question for someone else. I know you had such a hard time this past cycle, but it really could have been just a "freak" occurence.
Personally, I would try the higher dosage. It took me 150mg to really get my ovaries going.
However, this is your body and you have to decided what you think is best for it.

Wow, I really don't know what advice to give you. I do think that if it were me I'd take probably one cycle off from meds and do an unmedicated IUI before trying Clomid again (or switching to injectibles). After that reaction that you had I'd be a little gun shy, but that's just me. Good luck whatever you decide! Chat Icon

I am at a similar crossroads on whether to do another injectible cycle or give my body a rest for a few months and head into IVF. These are never easy decisions. What usually ends up happening to me is that my yearning for a baby takes over and I end up subjecting my body and mind to more torture. AHHH! The lengths we will go to. Good luck in your decision. I know it's a hard one.
