Do I have to tip?
I am having a prescription delivered to my house this evening.. I've never done this before, is it customary to tip any delivery person, including this one?
And how much would I give?

We get our DD's formula delivered fed ex and we've never tipped the guy.
Is it from a private pharmacy?

I always tip for delivery.
You don't ever HAVE to tip though.

Are you paying a delivery fee? Like shipping & handling?
If so, I wouldn't bother with a tip. But if it's a free service then I'd throw in a few bucks.

I would tip, have done that. I have found the delivery people are older or young people , so I figure they could use the $. It's not like you are paying for delivery, so yes, the person coming could use a tip. Plus if you had to go pick it up, you'd use gas, so why not tip even $2?
Yes, I say tip. It's not like Fedex is delivering it.
$3-5 bucks. How much inconvenience is it saving you/how far is the pharm? If it's saving you a good amt of time, then I would go with the $5. If the pharm is only a few mins away, then I would say $2 or $3 is fine.

Fed-Ex is different. In your case, that company has an account with fed ex, so fed ex gets paid, and the fed ex guy is an employee.
Delivery people from pharmacies are not full time employees usually and the pharms don't charge for delivery so in that case, the delivery people should be thrown a few bucks.

OK thanks everyone. I am going to tip a few dollars. The pharmacy is in Brooklyn. I had wanted them to deliver to my office in Manhattan but they took so long to get the order processed that they said the delivery would be between 6-10pm.
I didn't even know pharmacies did this sort of thing!

I used to work for a drug store/pharmacy that delivered, and when I went a couple of times, I was not tipped.

if its delivered by the drug store, I'd say yes tip them, but if its UPS or fedex, no.

when I thought it was your local pharmacy I was going to say yes. When I used a pharmacy in Bklyn that did only deliveries, I never tipped. Never even thought about it and they never looked like they wanted it.
