Fear of water breaking in public...
I still have ~ 4 weeks to go, but my BH contractions have intensified and are happening pretty often. I am afraid of my water breaking in public and drenching my pants. I have been wearing HUGE maxi pads everytime I leave the house  Is it just me?

MY BH contractions have been getting stronger and more frequent too. I never thought about wearing big pads though.
I am more afraid of having my water break while I am home alone.

Me too until I heard that only about 10% of womens water breaks on their own. And alot of people I know it didnt all break at once. So I relaxed a bit.
One woman at work about 5+ years ago her water did break as she was walking up the stairs.

If the big thick pads are uncomfortable try one of the light bladder control products. My friend (who has a one year old) bought me these when she first found out I was pregnant.

I kept a towel in my car for the last 4 weeks of each preganancy, I lteraly gushed when my water broke, but some people just trickle. I literally walked into the ospital with a twel in bwteen my legs that was saturated by the time I got up to L&D (I live miles from th hospital)

OMG this is one of my biggest fears!!! I've been wearing pads too any time I go out of the house by myself.
I have this vision of myself standing in the grocery store with a puddle underneath me! Oh GOD can you imagine???

knowing what I know now...id be scared too. I worked up until the last day and the sunday before I was going back to work...Boom ...my water broke. Yes it trickles but its alot. I definitely like the proactive idea of wearing pads. Next time around I am going to be petrified of it happening in the workplace.

Yes, I'm always paranoid of this happening! Maybe I'll start wearing pads too! I have just been wearing panty liners till now.
ETA: I bought a waterproof pad for my side of the bed too because I didn't want to ruin the mattress in case it happens while I'm sleeping! It was very cheap at kmart.

Well, according to some, a lot of preggos waters break during a full moon (TONIGHT)...has something to do with how the moon effects water and gravitation pull (or something along those lines).
I'm hoping tonight is my night!

Although I am not as close to my EDD as you are my biggest fear is water breaking...period. I'd be most comfortable if it happened at home, but would be positively mortified if it happened in public or even worse at work!

i just hope that it doesnt happen in my new pillowtop bed.. i dont want the mattress to absorb this leakage! yuck! And the mattress pad cover made the bed uncomfortable..so i took it off. :( I plan on keeping a towel in the car and at work fairly soon!

I just washed the sheets this weekend and before I put the new sheets on the bed, I put one of the waterproof mattress pads for the baby's crib on my bed to protect my mattress. I also am going to put a towel in my car just in case. But I also heard that only 30% of pg woman's water break. So we might be worrying for nothing.
