Just my opinion.....
I think this site is FANTASTIC, and all of you ladies have helped me with so many questions and concerns....
That being said....I feel like this site also makes me more paranoid and nervous. I am having twins, so I need more ultrasounds than normal. I came on this morning and read a thread that said that they may cause autism. Now this is the only thing that I can think about.
I can't help but think that this site is great for most reasons...but when I start thinking too much into things and getting paraniod, it makes me not want to click on some threads sometimes

Re: Just my opinion.....
Don't even worry about it. I know plenty of people who had high risk pregnancies and so they had a lot of sonos and their kids are just fine. I also know someone who only had 2 sonos throughout her pg and her son has autism so you never know. Just enjoy your sonos and I'm sure everything will be just fine.

Re: Just my opinion.....
Sonograms are done by transmitting sound waves... I personally don't think they pose any more of a risk than a radio! And if they did, why would every dr in america use them? Don't let things like that worry you. Over the next 9 months you will get more advice than you care to know...some solicited, some not, some useful, some not. Don't worry about all the what ifs - the stress from that can do more harm than anything else could! Be calm and eat healthy and your babies will be fine!

Re: Just my opinion.....
I can definitely see your point. But keep in mind that a lot of things on here, you should also take with a grain of salt.
Some of the things i've read on here and then asked my doctor about, he questions where on earth i heard something so ridiculous! He told me to stay off the computer.
Just like the news one day will say that broccoli causes cancer and then next it will say its carrots. There is research out there to prove anything and everything, but you can't always listen to it. Just because it's out there, doesn't mean it's true or that their findings were legitimate.

Re: Just my opinion.....
We use the same office and I have had tons of sonos done with my first pregnancy there and at specialists plus a 3d/4d by choice. My DD is perfectly healthy. Take it all with a grain of salt

Re: Just my opinion.....
I understand how you feel, I tend to overstress as well and something my OB told me has really helped. My DH has a son from a previous relationship with Autism, his brother has a son with Downs - this made DH very nervous about TTC, he wanted to make sure everything was perfect.
My OBGYN told me to prepare as much as you can within reason, but above all don't stress yourself out over things you cannot control. She said, she has seen healthy babies are born to crack addicts or people who according to "the odds" should not have healthy babies, but they do. Your body is designed to create a healthy baby and in most cases that is exactly what it is going to do.
I really felt better after she told me this. Sometimes things don't go exactly as planned, but most times they do.

Re: Just my opinion.....
autism paranoid mom-to-be here....
well, you know what? these days EVERYTHING causes autism.... simply becuase we don't know what does it.
obviously, we're paranoid, becuase one of the millions of things on that list could contribute to the disease, but frankly, we can't let these thoughts take over our lives...
I'm a neuropharmacologist.... and recently attended a discussion on autoimmune diseases of the central nervous system. you know what disease seems to be very similar to autism (not in symptoms, but when you study the pathology in the brain) multiple sclerosis.
it seems to look very similar to other white matter diseases.... and to me it seems it has some parts that hint to autoimmune disease (like MS). So, the vaccine correlation that many parents are insisting they observed may be true.... something triggering an abnormal immune response.... but what the CAUSE is, there's still no clue It's all rather disturbing....
