Short update on my Dad 4/11
So, my dad finally went into Sloane Kettering today to meet with one of the oncologists for a second opinion. After checking everything out, going over his scans and test results, he gave my dad a very good prognosis (which we're obviously happy about), but he told my dad that because he's so young, he doesn't recommend anything other than surgery to remove his prostate and the lymph nodes around it if he wants to be cured. His fear for my dad is that if they do not remove it, it could come back and worse. He also wanted my dad to stay away from radiation because God forbid he have a much more agressive and serious form of cancer down the line, he would not be able to receive radiation again.
My dad is a complete wreck because he had basically sold himself on not getting surgery at all. The potential side effects are really scary, so my dad is really upset, but the dr. assured him that the surgeon he's meeting with is one of the top dr.s for prostate removal in the country.
So, until June 2 when my dad meets with the surgeon, we're just letting it all sink in.
I wanted to say thank you to everyone who has been fming me with information and support.
