Luteal Cyst
Does anyone have any experience or knowledge about these?
As you know, AF was due Monday. Still nothing. I keep getting BFN on every test. BUT, I have PMS cramps. I have had them for over a week now.
I heard that a luteal cyst can cause a delayed period. Any ideas?
Thanks.

Re: Luteal Cyst
i dont have any personal experience to share but i found this-
Luteal cysts This type of cyst develops in the second half of the cycle after the egg has been released (at ovulation). As soon as ovulation has taken place in a normal cycle, the ruptured follicle then develops into the corpus luteum which produces progesterone in anticipation of a pregnancy. If the egg is not fertilised, the corpus luteum withers, progesterone levels fall and a period occurs. A luteal cyst is formed when the corpus luteum fails to wither when it should, and fills with blood instead.

I am PG with a corpus luteum cyst that should be dissolving soon. From time to time, it gets aggravated and is sore, but for the most part, I dont know that it is there. When I first learned I was PG,I was put on restrictions - no exercise and no intercourse. My RE wanted to make sure it would not rupture. It poses no danger to the pregnancy, but should it rupture, it is more harmful to me than the baby.

Re: Luteal Cyst
I developed 2 luteal cysts from injectable fertility meds last month and this month I O'd very late. There are many things that can delay ovulation and luteal cysts is one of the less common causes.
