Re: Just curious.. how is anyone able to afford
I have a few nice bags, but since I had Ava, I can't justify spending on myself like I used to.

hey, if you have the extra money, why not treat yourself? you only live once! i know someone who only buys coach and LV bags.
i will buy myself an expensive purse here and there. have not gotten an LV yet.

Re: Just curious.. how is anyone able to afford
My DH bought me a LV when we were first dating for our first Christmas. This was Christmas 2001- and back then the Speedy 25 was about $400. Now that we have a DC and LV prices (and every other "luxury" brand has gone through the roof)- i'd rather put the money towards college fund, vacation, etc.. it's amazing how priorities change.

Re: Just curious.. how is anyone able to afford
although i'm with you on the crazy $$$-ness of a Louis bag, I think its really to each his own. I think that everyone has one or two things that they are willing to spend a lot on b/c they feel its worth it. Personally, I love to buy nice bags, but $1450 just isn't happening for me.

I also don't believe in credit cards..
If I can't afford something up front with cash I do'nt buy it.. CC to me are fake and fronting....
I wear ballerina flats from Strawberries bc I like them and they are nice to me.. they cost 9.99 but I have my chanel bag......
I am lucky to have been able to buy such nice bags, now that I have a child I will prob buy less bags for myself..
now you can buy the designer baby bags :)- I agree- I spend money on shoes, bags, coats and jeans--everything else you can buy cheap stuff and get away with it

Re: Just curious.. how is anyone able to afford
There are alot of people with knockoff Louis. No offense to anyone but I personally hate knockoffs...if I can't afford the real thing I just don't buy it.
Honestly IMO certain designer bags like the Louis Vuittons are investment pieces. They are classic and basically never go out of style. If you check ebay there are plenty of people selling vintage Louis Vuitton bags from the 70's. They are timeless pieces. Think of it this way...initially you are shelling out $700 for a bag you can use for years to come. If you buy $60 trendy handbags 3 times a year that is $180...x 4 years that is $720 (I think I did the math correctly LOL). There goes your classic Louis Vuitton that will last you forever. We just bought my mom a Louis Vuitton Speedy for her birthday. I chipped in with my sister and step father. We figured why not spend the money on something that will last her a looooong time as opposed to clothes, makeup, perfume, etc that she will only get but so much use out of KWIM.
I am a bargain shopper...the only thing I will splurge on ocassionally are handbags and staple pieces (i.e. jeans, timeless black slacks etc) Everything else I buy at Target, on sale in Kohls, JCP, Macys etc.
Now of course there are people with their priorities arse backwards spending money on bags they cant afford...thats a different topic
And if all else fails and you really want one but can't' afford the new price tag Ebay is the shite. You can find used Louis Vuittons in excellent condition...just make sure they are recommended sellers that specifically deal with designer handbags. http://www.mypoupette.com/
