Starting on Clomiphene tonight

Hi, guys,

Ok, went to RE yesterday and was given prescription for Clomiphene and told to start taking today for five days. They told me to start taking ovulation tests on CD11; I'm to call them when I see the line and they'll have us come in for IUI the next day. They scheduled me for an ultrasound on CD13, just in case I miss the line on the test.

Two questions for everyone who's been through this:

They said I can take the two pills (have to take two pills every day for five days) together; has anyone done this? It says I may get drowsy so figured I'd take them every day at 6pm?

Also, once they do IUI, what happens next? Do we just wait and see if AF is a show or no-show?

Thanks for all your help!!

Re: Starting on Clomiphene tonight

If they want you to take two pills I am thinking they are starting you on 100? That is a little weird-I would call and double check on that-usually you start on 50 and if you don't respond well they will move you to 100..

As far as finding out if you are pregnant they will usually have you do an hcg and progesterone around 14 dpo to see if you are. I have always tested before though with a home pregnancy test GL!Chat Icon Chat Icon

Re: Starting on Clomiphene tonight

I started right out on 100mgs and took the two pills together at night before bed. I never took just 50mgs.

The only side effects I had were hotflashes, but they didn't start right away. I took Clomid CD3-7 and would usually get the hotflashes starting on CD5. They would come and go, but were not unbearable. They would usually stop 2 or 3 days after stopping the Clomid.

After my IUI's I would be told when to come back for my beta IF AF did not show up before that date. Obviously, if AF showed up before that date, I would just call my nurse and report my CD1 and start my cycle over.

When I was on Clomid my RE tracked me with blood work and sonograms starting on day 12. I did not use an OPK. They told me when to come in for IUI and then I started taking HPT's around 10 dpiui. I was told to come in for a blood pregnancy test 14 dpiui if AF didn't show up. GL!
