2 years is not enough, but I'm glad that they gave him the maximum sentence and not let him off with a fine or probation. I'm sure that they will torture him in jail, and I hope they do!

This is terrible. I remember Maximus's story. Yeah he was weeping cause he was going to jail, not because he was sorry.
This bothers me too:
A prosecutor said Phanord's 2-year sentence was the maximum penalty for the animal cruelty charge.
The maximum penalty for what he did is only 2 years? 
Why are the animal cruelty laws so lax? He'll probably get out on good behavior in 6 months.
I totally agree. How can the law give a maximum sentence of two years to people who torture and murder? People need to raise their voices for serious change.

It should have been 20....
Hurting an animal is almost on par with hurting a child - they are innocent and helpless against you .........
If he was so concerned with the attack on the other dog, how about TRAINING him properly?? Or, if he was that dangerous, there is a humane way to put him down .........and no one wants to do that either !!
No "animal lover" would do such a thing, even a decent human being who HATED animals wouldn't do something like that to another living, breathing being -
