Are there any others out there just letting mother nature take over (mostly)
I feel guilty that I'm not stressing or worrying, planning or creating a stradegy or even testing, pre-testing, monitoring, etc.
I admit I used Mymonthlycycles.com to figure out probable OV dates but other than BD I'm not trying to do anything else. Just relaxing and trying to hope mother nature finds me worthy.
I haven't spent a single dime, nor checked out any books. I am old fashioned (and I guess my american indian background has something to do with it too). If I go about 6months and no go, then I'll probably see a doctor but other than that, I'm doing nothing. Family tradition is ask Grandma first then the youngest of youngest. The answer is "When it is time, it will be time"
I'm not pre-testing and I'm not even home testing for pregnancy until I miss a period for maybe a fully month. Then I guess I'll look into it. I'm not taking pre-natal (but I love my OJ and eat pretty veggie healthy right now anyway)
I havent even told my hubby we are officially trying. I feel like that would put too much stress on him and me.
I'm afraid to hope that a BFP would even stick the first try. I do truly believe you hope for the best and prepare for the worst. Isn't mother nature enough for the first go around? (infertility and m/c excluded obviously)
I am rambling...
But I feel like you are all SO Supportative and I am always afraid I am not connecting with some of the discussions. I don't even know what CD I am on.
Am I the only one?
Is there anyone else there just trying the old fashioned way of BD around the right time and wait and see method? Or am I alone?
I just hope someone else out there can relate.

Well I am not that relaxed. I wish that I was. Put I am going onto month 8 and still don't use OPK's. I just look at CM. So I thik your attitude is great. Less stress makes it easier to concieve. Good Luck

I think your attitude is great. For me, I just started using the OPK's at month 6 after having a seriously long cycle. I had to tell DH that we were trying just bc I only felt it ws fair to him & this is a endeavor we wanted to go on together.
With that said, I don't think you are doing anything wrong by staying relaxed...

I admire you for being able to be so relaxed and calm about it...I totally think thats the way to be during this time!!! My personality, and I've come to accept is beyond high strung as it is, that I WISH I could just be that cool because I honestly feel it's better and things will come faster to you.... You are my DH's dream by the way for TTCing he's begging me to be like you!! GL!!!

It's a great way to go about TTC. Unfortunately I'm a control freak and a librarian and as soon as we started trying I read everything I could find about it...after 2 months of nothing that's when I started buying everything! The less stressed out you are the better! Good Luck!

I think it's great that you are so relaxed about it. In our first month we just used mymonthlycycles to try to estimate when I O, but after getting a BFN that month, we felt very upset and definitely wanted to take a more active approach.

Re: Are there any others out there just letting mother nature take over (mostly)
I think you are doing a great thing for yourself. Not everyone can go gung-ho, full force and be militant about TTC. Creating a child should be an intimate experience between two people and if your approaches to TTC make you happy, then so be it.
In my honest opinion websites like this where people can compare themselves to each other on an almost daily basis, can sometimes be just as confusing and stress-producing than helpful. I used to take mental notes of certain things, apply them to our situation and upset myself to my own detriment. I found myself crying more than smiling and it just wasn't healthy.
It is ok to use it as a point of reference, but it is critical to remember that each and every couple approaches TTC and gets PG in a different way. Each and every couple has different methods they use. Some may have issues that they may or may not be sharing so you may never get the whole picture. Even though DH and I are not TTC in the traditional way, lately we have been trying our best not to stress over every step. It has helped me and us quite a bit.
Good luck!

I think you have a good way of approaching TTC, I wish I was a little more like that. I have been wanting to TTC for a while now, DH wanted to wait. as soon as we were ready I went and got OPK's , HPTS and preseed. I haven't bought any books though, because I have already spent a good amount of $$ on these things. Here I am on month 4 and I'm getting a tad nervous. I wish you the best of luck! and I hope your stress free approach will help you conceive easily.

thanks ladies. I wasn't sure if anyone would be offended by what I had to say.
Ya'll are great
PS: what i mean when I say haven't told my hubby is that he knows I want a kid and ya know he has to be part of it but I just BD every day before and after the OV date like a week or so and maybe we miss one or two days but hey, guy has to rest ya know?
He just doesn't what what OV day is what, or CM or anything. Heck he's a guy, right now all he knows is he's getting some!

Re: Are there any others out there just letting mother nature take over (mostly)
You have a great attitude.
I have extremely irregular AF so I never know when I ovulate or when AF will be knocking so I do chart. But I havent read any books or gone to many other sites. I do like to browse around. I am taking a pre-natal that is an Rx because I had a m/c in October and my OB said these Prenatals will be good for me and they have some extra things that are very good.
We're on the whatever happens - happens. If it doesnt happen after 6 months then we'll get a bit more aggressive but for now nature is just going to have to take her course

Re: Are there any others out there just letting mother nature take over (mostly)
For me the reason I chose to go the charting/OPK method is because I really never knew when I'd be Oing. I never had "pains" or CM. My cycles were about 28 days, but my O time varied. The only reason I knew this was because of charting. Also, with my old job, I traveled quite a bit, so being together during certain times was crucial.
I figured I'd rather not deal with the disappointment every month of "wondering" if we BDed at the right time. Plus, I was/am older and didn't want to waste any time. Thankfully, we got PG the first real month of trying and I attribute that fully to charting.
This time around, my cycles have been wacky so charting has been REALLY helpful. I had a delayed O this month, so now I won't be disappointed with a BFN on Jan 1 (when I had originally planned to test). Rather, I know that we didn't BD at the right time, so it's highly unlikely we got PG this month. I can just look forward to next month.
Charting is not for everyone- and I can totally appreciate the view of letting things happen on their own. For me personally, I need some sort of control over the situation. Good luck to you-

You kind of make me wanna skip the opk this month! I wish I could be more like you. I don't know why I'm in such a rush, but I am and I want a baby so bad it hurts! Although, I'm a firm believer in faith and God and I do truly believe that it is in Gods timing and no matter what we do it is going to happen when it is suppose to! Therefore, planning for it or just seeing what happens, I hope we all get our blessing soon!!!!

Re: Are there any others out there just letting mother nature take over (mostly)
DH and I have been trying for 5 months. We decided not to use OPKs or temping or anything unless we didn't get pregnancy by 6 months. The only thing I have used is mymonthlycycles.com. No OPK's, so charting, so temping. It is very hard not to get swept into the craziness TTC can cause. We both want a baby so badly, but DH continues to have the "it will happen when it happens" mentality, while I am starting to get a little fussy. I think we will start using OPKs next month, if this month is unsuccessful.
I don't think you are alone. You need to do what is right for you! If you want to take the slow and easy path, then by all means..go ahead! The more relaxed you are, the easier it is to get pregnant anyway.
GL!!
