I need an impersonal gift idea...
For my sister's boyfriend. We've never met him before and she'll be bringing him over on Christmas Eve. I don't want him to feel excluded when we open gifts, but I don't know this guy from Adam.
If it helps, he's in his late 20's and is on a two week leave from the Army.
Any ideas?

Maybe as a thank you a g/c for a massage...sounds weird, but it might be a nice gesture as someone who is serving the country. I know, I'm a dork.

Thanks for the suggestions, bumping if anyone has any other ideas. He doesn't drink, and I feel weird giving a GC to someone I've never met..I know, I'm weird.

Even though you don't want to give him a GC, what about a pre-paid phone card for when he goes back to the Army??
Go to Target & look at the gifts for $10-30 in the red boxes...You might find something he can use in the Army...

I think lotto scratch offs are a GREAT present for anyone that you know well or don't really know at all...
Every year my SIL's MIL buys a ton of them and hands them to anyone around.
You could buy a few $5 holiday ones and put them in a small stocking...and hand them to him and wish him good luck.

I know this might sound strange, but what if you make him a "care package" with all the essentials for daily life, like a chapstick, lotion, etc..
Also make a "correspondance" kit where he can use it to write letters & what not to everyone back home....

I really like this idea, but it's not "impersonal".
I would probably get him a shirt of some kind.
