Cartlidge piercing
I got my cartlidge pierced 12 weeks ago and when I took out my earring for the first time yesterday, it looked all fleshy and was bleeding.....should I go to a doctor?? Could it be infected that it hasn't closed yet? I also have a bubble in the front that hurts when the earring rubs against it.
What kind of doctor should I go to?? a regular one or specialist (maybe a dermatologist??)

Re: Cartlidge piercing
Have you tried Neosporin on it? That's a common area for getting infected. I coulnd't sleep on my left side for months while mine healed. Not sure how long it shoudl take though

Re: Cartlidge piercing
I would definitely go. I know a couple of people who had the same problem. It got really infected.
Question, did you put alcohol on it because DON'T.
Try some ointment to help the soreness.
Call your regular physician and ask them who you should see. Might be better to see and ear, noise and throat Dr, but I"m not sure.
Feel better

No, I never put alcohol on it. My co-worker suggested to clean it with Salt water. I put bacitrcin ointment on it last night after cleaning it with the antiseptic.

Re: Cartlidge piercing
I'd go to be safe. That area gets infected a lot more easily than your ear lobes.

I agree, I had an 'industrial' that got infected. I had to have it lanced three times. The third time I went she also prescribed an antibiotic but told me if it didn't heal that time she was going to admit me to the hospital. I am now missing a piece of the top of my ear. I find it funny that I did that to myself

Re: Cartlidge piercing
After 3 painful months, when mine finally healed, I pulled the earring out to clean and it closed shut! What a waste of sleepless, painful earred nights

Re: Cartlidge piercing
I guess a regular MD it is! I cleaned mine again last night, and its still bleeding and even oozing a little I really wanted to keep this earring, but with all these problems I might have to let it close up
