Are we the only couple that doesn't exchange gifts?

We don't exchange Christmas presents (or birthday presents, for that matter).

During the year, we pretty much buy ourselves what we want, and instead of gifts we go on trips. We also surprise each other here and there throughout the year with little things.

I guess I see it as DH would be spending "our" money on something he thinks I would like. I'd rather just buy what I want and not put him through the hassle of figuring it out, or translating my "hints".

Are we the only ones?

we are pretty much like that too!

if we do exchange it's something small.

We haven't exchanged for 1 brrthday each & last Christmas, & we never exchange for our anniversary. ( We go out/away.)

I suggested we re-institute it this year, since I like to open things, but we have the same problem. DH wouldn't buy me anything that I couldn't/woldn't buy myself.

I suggested we wrap random things from aroudnthe house, to make it look like we have presents & to have something to open, and just go shopping & get what we want!

And, I may have suggeted getting real presents this year, but I have no idea what to get DH! ( His birthday is the week after Christmas , too.)

We don't exchange for Christmas or for our anniversary. We usually give a little something for birthdays.

For Christmas/Anniversary we usually go on a trip in December. We just got back from Aruba last Weds

There have been years that we haven't but we weren't home for Christmas. When we're home I really like giving and opening presents.
We don't exchange for birthdays, anniversaries, etc. because we do just buy whatever we want/need during the year. We usually do a nice dinner or a night away.

We buy eachother something we wouldn't typically buy ourself. So something moderately priced that I would pass over because of other things I need or want more.

DH and i don't give gifts to each other anymore. we are saving for a house and trying to get out of debt, and when we do have extra $$, we would much rather go out to a really nice restaurant than buy a "thing."

during the year, if i see something i want (within reason) i buy it, and same for him. so much easier that way - he is SO hard to buy for!

We do that some years, like this one.

We buy ourselves whatever we want all year so there is nothing to buy each other.

But sometimes we do buy each other gifts. DH usually buys me jewelry since I won't often go out and buy that myself.

we do that a lot, too... it gets to the point where you buy things as you need them or when you need them... and you might as well buy them for yourself so that you know its exactly the thing you wanted....
dh and i a lot of times will use it as a reason to go out to a nicer dinner than we usually would ( ruth's chris, splurge on a full dinner at the melting pot), or do something together like see a show or take a weekend away

We actually spoil each other at christmas. for example, I bought him a wii for christmas, he wouldnt buy that for himself, and I probably will be getting a piece of jewelery and a coach bag, because I just haven't gotten aroung to buying it.

We don't exchange for anniversary and b-days we get each other something small.

Melbalala youre not alone....We dont exchange gifts either on Xmas or on Bdays BUT more than a couple of times a year we'll buy each other "just because I love you" gifts which are generally big gifts.

Your not alone. We don't buy for birthdays, christmas, or anniversary's. We spend all year long and put a lot of money into our home.

We don't either. Now DS will get each of us a tiny something and when he is older enough, I will have him make something for each of us.

We rather save our money

I don't buy him a gift for his b-day because we always have a huge bar-b-que so my gift is all the prep & cleaning up afterwards But for my birthday he usually buys me a nice gift.

We've never once bought each other an anniversary gift...just go out to dinner or away for the weekend.

And for Christmas we'll buy the other something small IF we see something we know the other will like. If I say I don't want anything, he literally won't buy me anything !

You are not alone!

We dont exchange for Christmas...we are buying for tons of other people and plus there isnt really ever anything that we want that we wouldnt buy ourselves during the year.

We do exchange for our birthdays since its special to just us unlike Christmas where everyone gets a gift.

For anniversaries, we usually go on a trip.
