Ambulance Crashes After Wooden Log Strikes Driver
What is wrong with people? Who would do something like this???
NORTH BELLMORE, N.Y. (CBS) ? An ambulance driver was injured after a log-sized chunk of wood was thrown into the ambulance's window, striking the driver in the face and causing him to lose control of the vehicle before it crashed.
The incident happened about 2:30 a.m. Thursday on Newbridge Road, just north of Jerusalem Avenue, in North Bellmore.
Police say the driver, 34-year-old Regis Beneville, was responding to a call as he drove northbound on Newbridge Road when someone in a car traveling southbound apparently tossed the 18 inch, five-pound log at the ambulance. The piece of wood went through the open driver's side window and hit Beneville in the face. He then lost control of the ambulance and struck a utility pole, nearly splitting it.
The suspect car, a dark colored four-door Sedan, possibly a Saturn, was apparently occupied by four white males in their twenties, and continued traveling on Newbridge Road, fleeing the scene.
Beneville, an eight-year veteran AMT, was transported to Nassau University Medical Center where he was treated and released for a concussion and back and neck injuries.
The incident brought back memories of a fatal prank in 2004 when teens hurled a turkey through Victoria Rivolo's windshield, crushing her face.
No one else was injured in the incident and police are asking for help in capturing the suspects. Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-244-TIPS. Callers may remain anonymous.

It reminded me of the kids that threw the turkey at a car in Ronkonkoma a few yrs back sending the woman into a coma. What a POS whoever threw the log...Morons.
