Re: Spinoff...Are you a Christmas Tree Snob?
I guess we are snobs too. We like our tree to have all matching ornaments, white lights, no garland or tinsel.
My DH feels the same way about our tree and helps pick out new ornaments and decorate it.
It's certainly not magazine quality, but it's our tree, our way!

Not at all -- I love how our tree is an eclectic collection of ornaments we purchased or recieved over the years.
We are phasing out the filler ornaments we bought when we first got our tree which we are replacing with more sentimental ornaments.
Same for us - I love pulling the handmade ornaments and the ones we rec'd as gifts out of the box and remembering who they are from - I cry just about every year while decoarting the tree

Re: Spinoff...Are you a Christmas Tree Snob?
heh.... YES... BUT, I'll also say I'm that neurotic about every trivial decoration in our apartment
Our tree is covered with ONLY red, white, and silver ornaments.... and white lights. (similarly, our apartment is decorated in ultra-modern black, grey, white, and red... with brushed stainless steel... note a trend? ) Also, our tree is scandinavian inspired... (since it's the birthplace of most modern design )
I figure if everything in our tiny place all matches, we can shift furniture from room to room, blankets from room to room.... and it always gels well... and so far, it's true
I also have similar rules to you.... no tinsel or garlands......

Re: Spinoff...Are you a Christmas Tree Snob?
I never thought I was til I started decorating our tree this year. I find myself holding one ornament and walking around the tree looking for "the" spot. I must take after my mother!!! Ex. 2 identical ornaments can't be next to or remotely near each other.
Dh thinks I'm off my rocker.

No way.....I have really old ornaments that I made when I was a kid.....Some were handed down to me....My tree is always a big mix and nothing "matches", but each ornament has special meaning, even if it's ugly!
I feel the same way...

Re: Spinoff...Are you a Christmas Tree Snob?
We are kinda picky. Only a real tree not the fake ones (we had a fakey when I was growing up and I never liked it). We only put white lights on the tree and no goofy ornaments. DH insists on tinsel but I could do without it!

Re: Spinoff...Are you a Christmas Tree Snob?
The majority of ornaments on my tree are my Hallmark ornaments that I have collected over ther years. I have a HUGE collection. Many of them light and have motion. Others play music.
The other ones that I have are personalized ones. Love them.
My tree has to be perfectly arranged (the branches) and I don't like to look at the tree and see any spots where I can see THROUGH the tree.
