You can goto best buy and get the radio.. and then you call up or go online to activate. Some radios will come with a car kit, some you will need to buy separately. We have the starmate and never had a problem with it.
The monthly fee depends on how long of a plan you sign up for. We get the 2 year plans so we pay about 10.00 a month for the first radio, and 6.99 for our second radio.
Here is a link to the plans
You'll love it - I will never listen to regular radio again!

No problem - let me know if you have more questions, it's pretty simple. I edited my original post, as I was mistaken we have the starmate and not the sportster.
We also have an XACT radio - its big and clunky, but we got it 5 years ago now, and it fits into a boombox attachment we have so we can get Sirius anywhere. I don't even know if XACT even makes sirius radios anymore. It's starting to have problems, but that might be because it was partially submerged in orange soda.... whoops. I had a soda cup from a fast food joint in my car, and I kept the reciever in the other cup holder. (Both cup holders are attached with a channel between them.) And whoops, what do you know, it was a hot day and the fast food cup wax melted and orange soda was sitting in both of my cup holders for hours while I was at work.... so it was submerged for a while. It'll freak out and change stations automatically, and sometimes will stick on buttons.. but my husband's OK with it.

Re: Sirius radio- who has it??
I LOVE LOVE LOVE Sirius. I originally got it for Howard, but I have never listened to regular radio since. There are no commericials and tons of channels to choose from. I got it installed at Best Buy and if you decide to sell your car, they remove it for free. I need to do that since I had mine put in my company car. We paid for a full year subscription, not monthly.

My husband has it and loves it. He also got it installed at Best Buy and when we bought a new car they switched it for free. He pays yearly for his subscription.
