co-ops
what is average down payment nowadays?
10%? 20%?
Are studio co-ops a bad idea to buy, because theyre harder to sell later on>?

Re: co-ops
we are trying to sell ours, and it seems on average, people put down 10%. if you can afford a one bedroom as opposed to a studio, i'd go for that. i think a studio would be hard to sell down the line.

Re: co-ops
We had a co-op for 2 years... We put down 10%. We didnt have any problems selling ours. I put it on craigs list and sold it right away.

Re: co-ops
It usually depends on what the board requires. We looked at co-ops right before we got married and did not have much money and they were going to allow us to put 5% down. Needles to say we talked about it and decided to rent. Then move outta state within a few years depending on where DH is with his job. But most co-ops do require 10-15%

Re: co-ops
It all depends on the co-op board. Ours required 20% down which stunk. I think this is one reason it took us a bit longer to sell.
