Do you think it costs more to get

alterations done at the place where I'm getting my bridesmaid dress or should I take it to a tailor?

It depends on the place. Where did u get the dresses from and how much do they want to charge you? i have found it cheaper at a taylor a couple of times but i have also gotten it done at the place a handful of times

Bayshore Bridal Salon. I think they're charging me 50 bucks for alterations. I would like to get cups sewn in too...I'm sure that's additional...

While it may be cheaper, the quality may not be as good. Plus, the bridal store will have a cap on alterations.

The only 2 girls in my wedding party who opted to have their dresses altered elsewhere were NOT happy. The work was (honestly) pretty bad. I could tell a big difference in their dresses from my other girls. Not that I cared that much, but you get what you pay for sometimes.

Of course, the flip side is that not all seamstresses and bridal stores are created equal either... so sometimes they are a big rip off. If it's a reputable bridal salon, I'd get the dress altered there.

Then again, if all you need is a hem and nothing else, a tailor could probably do the job just fine for much less!

If you have to get a lot taken in I would do it in the salon..they always have a cap on alternations which is great! If you don't need much taken in I would just bring it to your tailor.

I just had a dress altered - just needed a hem - at the dry cleaner, and it cost $45. Then I paid $12 to have it pressed. I would go with the bridal shop.

Okay, I found out it costs 65 for the alterations and 25 for the cups.

What to do...maybe I should stick with the bridal salon?
