How Rude is this?!?!?

Ever since I got married last year all I ever hear is,"When are you going to have a baby"....it's really so annoying!
(I was even asked that during my wedding reception.)

Anyway, this guy at work askes me EVERYTIME he sees me.

Well,....today he calls me over and says," I have to ask you something personal". I'm like.."ok, What!? He says, "Honestly, when are you going to have a baby??" and proceeds to say, "you know you are not getting any younger...You don't want your ovaries to dry up like prunes." Chat Icon Chat Icon

When is it anyone's business as to when I am going to have a baby!!!???

Enough is enough....it's so annoying and rude!!!!

Sorry had to vent...thanks for reading!

Re: How Rude is this?!?!?

Sounds like a call to HR may be in order. Nobody has asked me lately. If they did, I am not responsible for what I might do.

Re: How Rude is this?!?!?

That is really rude! I have been married a little over a year, and I'm just starting to get the same question. My DH 85 yr old Grandma wants to know why I'm not PG yet, and she hopes I don't wait to long. She also only wants me to have boys!!!Chat Icon

That was going to be my response. It is absolutely not acceptable to ask someone that in a work environment (okay, EVER!)

What an ahole! A co-worker (actually no one) has the right to comment on the condition of your eggs!! I would look him in the face and ask, "do you understand just how personal a question that is? Leave me the fluck alone!"

I agree. Let this guy know his comments are rude. After that, if he comments again, go right to hr.

Re: How Rude is this?!?!?

That is so rude and insensitive. You never know what is going in someone's life.

I had a friend that had been trying to have a baby for 5 years before finally delivering a baby girl. She got so tired of being bothered by this one person that she finally told her that she had been trying for 5 years w/o success and that the constant questions were very hurtful. Well, the woman felt like an idiot and the questions stopped.

Sometimes you have knock to people over the head and make them feel like sh*t for them to understand.

Ok rant over. Hope things get better for you.

Re: How Rude is this?!?!?

seriously, what is his deal? Why does he feel the need to ask you about your reproductive status? I would go to HR and file a complaint.

Sorry you have to go through that. My MIL was like that too. It's very frustrating.

Re: How Rude is this?!?!?

I hate that people associate a woman's age with anything to do with this.

First of all, it's none of anyone's darn business... only one person asked me at my wedding about when the babies were coming (unfortunately I also found out this same person is having severe reproductive problems and I wish her all the baby dust in the world, believe me).

The following is not to boast for those who legitimately are having a harder time TTC, but really - this can happen at any age I've seen from my experience. And I'm only stating it 'cause I am sick and tired of hearing anything to do with age and like your ovaries are going to dry up - this is just how society continues to make women feel bad about themselves (even other women can be guilty of this too). Just like "fun ciggies" cause low sperm count... if that were the case I can think of 5 kids from different families that shouldn't be here! I hate when other people who have nothing to do with the raising of them have anything to say. You know - it's not easy raising a kid today and the stress on young families (and yes, those in their 40s are still young to me) is bad enough without some outsider bugging anyone.

Example of us "ovary dried over 30" who had no problems - I'm 34, we decided to start trying and boom, got PG. My best friend was 34 when she got PG with her first... also as soon as they decided they got PG, they have 2 healthy sons. One of my former co-workers was 37 and had her first, a healthy son. My cousin's friend decided at like 41 (she's definitely over 40) and boom she has a healthy daughter. I know people under 30 having problems. Age is not a huge factor as long as you take care of yourself overall. Not everyone meets their DH in high school anymore... Sorry to go off, this just irritates the sh*t out of me! Plan a fam when it's best for YOU and DH. You can be "fertile mertile" at 40 and you can be dry as a bone at 24! Again, the examples weren't meant to make anyone having a hard time feel bad... I wish you all Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

Re: How Rude is this?!?!?

I hate that SH*T~
when people ask me I have a generic answer and Say "why do u care?" and that sorta shuts them up, if they proceed w/ the topic I say, "thats a pretty personal question."
That also works well when people ask me "when r u gonna buy a house"
sometimes i throw in "why u wanna contribute to the Down payment"?
people need to just worry about themselves.
