My boss turned on me
Last night when I told him I'm pg he was so good about it. Today he called me in his office and starting hounding me for a plan on how the office will run when I'm gone. Quite honestly, I don't know - he depends on me a lot. But it's not fair that he's making it my responsibility. When I told him I didn't have a solution, he said I need to start thinking about it. W T F I honestly thought this would be his initial reaction, so I'm not surprised, but it's disappointing since he was a different person last night - guess he started thinking about it and isn't that thrilled anymore

Re: My boss turned on me
My problem is they won't bring in an outsider temporarily - I deal with a lot of confidential material/clientele so for that reason they wouldn't replace me. So it's up to me to find someone internally (and there is no one that my boss trusts or has been with the company long enough). Guess the company should consider these things when they have a 30-yr woman doing this job. Next time - hire a man, he won't get pregnant!

What a jerk. This should be the happiest time in your life instead he makes you feel about about it or is trying to. I'm sorry to hear that. I hope everythign works out and that he does add anymore worries on you.

Re: My boss turned on me
I'm sure he doesn't mean to upset you and isn't really unhappy that you're having a baby. He is just trying to run his business and make sure things don't fall apart while you're on maternity leave. Look at it as a compliment...he obviously thinks you're a great employee.
You have awhile to go before you have the baby. Maybe you could split your job into a few different parts and train a few trusted people to do different things. That way he doesn't have to trust one person entirely with all of your responsibilities. It will probably help you out also to know someone can take care of things if you have to miss a few hours here and there for OB appts.

Re: My boss turned on me
I wish I had that problem back when I was PG with my DS. I worked for an accounting firm and was due April 20th (they thought I planned it to get out of tax season ). So I told them when I was 10 weeks pg and that was in Oct. I kept telling them we had to hire some temperoraly but because I did so much work we need someone before Jan. because to teach someone things durning tax seaon well, it's difficult. Needless to say they kept putting it off and we finally hired someone in Jan. (4 months before my leave) who was horrible. She lied about what she knew as far as her accounting background. I ended up not going back but they kept her their for a year and half.
If people depend on you that much I really suggest trying to get them to get you a temp. and to start soon. I was still getting phone calls a year after she was their .
