Induction
I'm 3 days past my due date and thinking about an induction. My doc says, "just pick a date" and DH says, "whatever you want".
I'm sort of sad to miss out on my fantasy of a spontaneous and natural labor, but I am really done with being pregnant and am dying to meet my baby.
Any thoughts/opinions/advice about inductions??? TIA

Re: Induction
I think you really have to use your own judgement. I was weary about it too, b/c I really didn't want to end up in a c-section. I wanted the whole experience of going naturally also, but the convienience and the timing of the induction got me all excited (we did it early at 38 weeks).
My Dr. was sure that an induction would work on me (since my body had progressed on its own already) and pretty much assured me that a c-section would be highly unlikely...so I went for it and I'm very happy I did!

Re: Induction
I was induced 3 days past my due date I was not budging-not dilated, not effaced--nothing. My doctor told me to pick the date like you. I had a beautiful induction-my DD flew out in 4 hours of painless labor & 5 pushes. You have to do what you feel is the best for you. For us the induction went beautifully and I am so happy I did it. Good Luck

Re: Induction
Ill probable be in the same boat as you.. Im due fri. and my doc. said on monday my cervix isnt even close to being "rippen". Do what you feel comfortable with. My friend and SIL both went in for and induction and then right before they were about to... the baby took over and they were dilated on there own.. so you never know.

Re: Induction
This is a tough one. I dread the thought of an induction too. Do they think there is any chance that you will go into labor on your own soon? I know they can't let baby stay in there too much longer. I know people who have had really hard long inductions and people who swear by it. You just never know how it will go. I wish you all the best in your decision. I am done being pregnant too, and I am not overdue yet. So I can only imagine....

Re: Induction
It seems that at a certain point the doctors will induce past the EDD for a couple of reasons...size of baby, placenta problems, and comfort issues. I was "diagnosed" with GD and have yet to get an inducing date. With all this waiting I feel like it's making me more nervous to get one. In real life I've heard nothing but good stories about inducing and in the books all they say is "increase of C-section". Well, I'm gonna go with what real people say and tomorrow allow for an inducing date to be set. I need to be able to breathe, poop, and sit like a normal person again.
