No peanut butter?
I just read on another board that peanut butter is not good during pregnancy??? I have not been to the Dr yet, this is the first I have heard something like this. Is this true? I hope not!

Re: No peanut butter?
I was told by my nutritionist to have peanut butter, b/c im gestational diabetic and its a good way to get protein. Ive had since my glucose test, practically every day. and im almost finished with the pregnancy and the doctor says everything looks good.

Re: No peanut butter?
My doctor told me to eat it in moderation. Recent studies show mothers who ate alot of peanuts while pregnant had children with peanut allergies.
Just another study done. Take it with a grain of salt. I never liked peanut butter so it didn't matter to me, but she didn't tell me to stop eating it, just to have it in moderation

Re: No peanut butter?
Too much peanut butter isn't good because it's fatty but that goes for everyone. I thought it was a good sources of protein??

No, its b/c of that study mentioned above. My dr said to try to avoid it in the third trimester.

My sister ate peanut butter everyday. She ate bags and bags of peanut butter cups when pregnant with bother her kids. Neither kid has a peanut allergy. Both kids love eating peanut butter cups .

Thanks ladies, I get nervous that I am eating something I shouldn't. And it seems like every site you visit tells you something different! I have my 1st appt with the doc in a few weeks.

Re: No peanut butter?
I was told once that you can't eat PB because it caused peanut allergies.
So I asked my High Risk Dr, and he said, no it's fine to eat, food, don't cause allergies. Just like when you were not preggo, just watch the amount you eat, because it is high in fat.
I eat it at least every few day and love it! It keeps me full for a while!

Re: No peanut butter?
I just asked my doctor about this and other nuts, and she said she was familiar with the studies that have been done, but she didn't feel they were comprehensive enough to really show anything, one way or another.
She felt it was okay in her opinion to have some in moderation. I'm trying to watch how many nut products I eat in general now, though I'm not giving them up completely.
You could try almonds maybe, fewer people seem to have almond allergies than peanuts or walnuts. There is almond butter, and it's not bad. Not as good as peanut butter, but not bad. But this is just my opinion. No one told me almonds are safe either.
