Ummm...what is this??

I havent really told any friends that i thought DH and i would start TTC in Feb. I may have mentioned to a girlfriend that im ready, but DEFINTELY nothing was in stone.

In any case, i get a BIRTHDAY gift from her today and its the following items:

A book called "Knocked Up" (not the movie)
A Pregnancy Journal
Fit Pregnanay Magazine
Pregnancy Magazine

W*T*F*???
#1 Im NOT PG or even TTC
#2 What if i cant get PG even if i was TTC?
#3 After DH told me the other day that he wants to wait another year before TTC, this really was hard to look at

Thoughts??

Ouch, that is a really weird gift. I think it was presumptuous and insensitive of your friend to give that to you. You're right- just because you said you are ready doesn't mean you are pg or ttc right now, and what if you do have IF issues, that is just crushing. I would never give anyone such a gift.

As someone who hasn't ever had a baby, been pregnant or tried to get pregnant, my thought is that she was trying to be supportive and excited for you. Lots of women don't realize that TTC can take a while and while you're not quite there yet, you obviously want a baby and she probably thought you'd really like some PG resources and stuff.

I'm sorry that your DH isn't ready to TTC yet and I'm sorry your friends' gift made you feel crappy, but I really think she was trying to be a super supportive friend.

I don't think your friend realized how sensitive this topic is for you right now. If you can't stand to have these things around you right now, you might want to try putting them in storage, selling them on ebay, or giving them away. Sorry you are going through this right now.

I'm assuming she's just thinking with blinders on. Does she have any kids? Many women don't realize how hard it is.
