Does anyone have.... (with pic)
an open floor plan with your kitchen, DR & LR that has tile in the kitchen & DR and Hardwoods in the LR? This is sort of a spinoff from my post yesterday. I just don't know if tile would look good in the kitchen & DR and hardwood in the LR & hallway.
Any pictures would be great! TIA!!!
This is what the kitchen looks like now, but we are completely remodeling it. New Flooring, new cabinets and counters and appliances.

Re: Does anyone have....
We have an open floor plan between living room, dining room, kitchen and great room.
But our living room, dining room and kitchen have wood floors. Our great room has carpeting but we will eventually put down wood in there as well.
I know that wasn't what you were asking but I figured I would share.

You were the first pictures I went and looked at this morning! I love the all hardwood look and I think that is what we are going to do, but we are worried about if the day ever comes that the dishwasher or frig leaked, we would have to replace the hardwoods. But I think we might be willing to take the chance.

I have an open floor plan. Its in an L-shape. The kitchen being on the short end of the L. Just my kitchen area is tiled. The DR and LR area is hardwood. I think it flows really well. The kitchen tile squares off that area and defines it. I'll try to post pictures tonite whn i get home.

Awe thanks for looking at my pictures! My kitchen was re-done by the previous owns and they put down the wood floors. THey are a shade lighter than the rest of the house but it works because of the color of my cabinet and the floor moulding the put inbetween. I never really thought of a leak because I hope we won't ever have to deal with that. I just think it looks great and is so easy to keep clean. Good luck! I think I have enough pictures in my album but I can take more if you want to see more.

I think you should continue the wood floor into your kitchen.
I have wood floors in my eat in kitchen which is open to my family room (which also has wood floors), and I absolutely love it. No offense to anyone that has it, I just think ceramic tile is so hard and cold. I live upstate and I just couldn't imagine walking on cold tiles all winter long (it is bad enough in the bathrooms - LOL).

I love how it looks in your house. They did a good job with it. I have never had a leak in any other house or apartment I have been in, so I will just have to put that out of my head for now. I think it is a lot easier to keep clean. There is white ceramic tile in our apartment kitchen in the house and it's just a mess and I know white tile is hard to keep up on. All the pics are great. No need to take more, but thanks. I will have to show them to DH later! Thanks!

Thanks! I think you are right. I know I don't like walking on tile in the winter, it really hurts your feet. But I do like the look of tile too. But I'm thinking that the tile in the bathroom will be enough!

Re: Does anyone have.... (with pic)
I do.
I have an entry foyer and kitchen with tile.
Then, the hardwood starts in at the dining room (next to the tile) and continues into the living room.
It looks beautiful and helps to seperate the spaces.
I have a photo that kind of shows it (during construction!). You are looking at the foyer (the kitchen is to the right) and then the start of the hardwood with the seperator.
The tile isn't cold at all during the winter and it's really great to clean. Image Attachment(s):

Re: Does anyone have.... (with pic)
Sorry--My house is a complete mess, but I have an open floor plan too. We did this by choice when we renovated. I have a center line cape and we knocked the wall down for the "master bedroom" and made it our living room. But I have tiles in my kitchen, dining room, and halls and hardwood floors in the living room. I tried to take a few pics for you, I hope these help. BTW-I love having tiles in the kitchen, I spill everything and for me it works the best! Image Attachment(s):
