This is totally frustrating

Okay, so 10DPO I decided to test which resulted to a BFN. AF was due to arrive yesterday, the only sign so far (light cramping). Is it possible I may have tested too early? If so, now that I am past my due date I am going to assume a test would be accurate.

Also, any suggestions as to which test is the best to take?

TIA! Chat Icon

do you always have such a short luteal phase?? a "normal luteal phase" is about 14 days.. if it is shorter than 12 you may have a progesterone deficiency and may need supplements.. at 10 dpo it is too early to test for most people.. good luck!!Chat Icon

I agree with Kristi - if you're normal luteal phase (from ovulation to first day of AF) is only 9 days, then you may want to speak to your ob/gyn. Less than 10 days could indicate a defect.

Excuse my ignorance, I am very new at this but what exactly do you mean by "luteal phase"? I usually O on day 14, which normally lasts for about a day from what I can remember.

starting from the first day of your period you count the days.. if you o on the 14 th day that's fine.. but then you start counting again from the o day.. the days between the time you o and the time you get your period is called the luteal phase.. usually people have a 14 day luteal phase.. the time between the period and the o is the only time that varies.. you need about 14 days or so to build up your progesterone to be able to implant a pregnancy.. You explained it really well, thank you but now I am a nervous wreck. I never new about this and yes AF does tend to show up late from time to time. Not all the time, there are months where she shows up on the expected due date. I never saw this as a problem and now am completely nervous this is going to cause a problem for me Chat Icon

So, there is definitely not a chance I can be pg. Is there medication or a way to treat this?

Thanks girls, you have no idea how much I appreciate this.

I don't think I was clear, sorry...my fault. My 10th day past O was on Monday the 25th which was the last time I tested.

i think you may be counting wrong then.. if you o on the 14th day and then AF comes on the 28th -30th day then you have a 14-16 day luteal phase which would be good! if you are only 10dpo then you have 4-6 days left until you are due for AF and yes you still could be pregnant! if i'm understanding you right.
