East Meadow teachers have been working without a contract for a long time now.

For me, it would depend on which HS in Levittown my kids would go to.
From what I know from people who live in East Meadow and Levittown, I don't see a huge difference, but I think MacArthur HS is better than the others.

if it were me i would go with levittown or east meadow. although, as someone else posted, the teachers in EM have gone a very long time without a contract which doesnt bode well.

Yea EM is started to go downhill b/c of the school district.....I would go for the other towns

I live in Hicsksville. The SD is good. So is Levittown.
I am not sure about E. Meadow.
ETA: Hicksville and Levittown are nice town to live in. Some areas are better than others but it's nice, convenient to a lot of places on LI. And still affordable.

I worked at one of the middle schools in East Meadow for a year. It wasn't great...we had a bomb threat, and countless other things. Personally, I'd stay clear.

When we first looked at moving, we checked out the following school districts you mentioned. Levittown did fair the best.

I vote for Levittown, but I am also biased. We bought only in a particular area of Levittown as well. We are in the Salk/MacArthur SD - I would not have it any other way.

I went to Salk and Macarthur as well. I now live in East Meadow. I am in Barnum area. This is the only part of East Meadow I would live. Levittown schools are fine though

I wouldn't rule East Meadow out just yet. The Superintendent is leaving in February and I'm sure the first thing the new superintendent will do (and this will be the first interview question) is get a contract.
Also they just voted in 3 new school board members - all parents.
I don't know much about Hicksville, but someone told me that there are metal detectors in the HS - Is that true?

My husband coaches in Hicksville. It seems like a good district. The children & families we have dealt with through the sports are very nice.
