Re: Seatbelts

I was in a terrible accident and walked away with literally a scratch, thanks to my seatbelt. So I always wear mine and make everyone in my car wear them.

My dog is also always belted in too. We have a special harness that goes with the seatbelt.

I can't believe some of the things people do while driving...

Yes, I always wear one!!!

My car also makes an obnoxious noise if someone isn't wearing one either so you have no choice in my car but to put your seatbelt on!

I always wear mine and it wasn't until DH flipped his jeep and his seatbelt saved his life that he started wearing his religiously too.

I almost always do. Always in the front and 95% in the back seat.

Me too. I've been wearing it more often in the back seat lately. I think having two DC helps with that. I've never not worn a belt in the front, even in parking lots. The only time I don't is when I move the car a few feet in the driveway to wash the car.

ALWAYS wear my seatblet. Even to go to the store up the block (and yes, I do drive there Chat Icon ). I don't think I could drive WITHOUT my seatblet.

Re: Seatbelts

I wear my seatbelt EVERYTIME - regardless if I am driving or not - I do not feel comfortable without it on. I guess Drivers Ed sunk in for me...I've been wearing it ever since I got behind a wheel

Re: Seatbelts

I always wear my seatbelt when I drive. I used to have one of those cars with the annoying automatic seatbelt so I feel "naked" when I don't drive with it on.

I must admit that I have to be better about wearing a seatbelt when I'm a passenger. It's terrible.

I brought this up a few weeks ago on these boards, asking why people think it's ok to wear one in the front seat, but not the back, and I got flamed slightly, but I don't care - I agree with you - it's a really, really important issue.

This is something I definitely need to be better about.

Re: Seatbelts

I always wear mine... it's not even something I think about when I get in the car.

When I was about 15 I was babysitting for my next door neighbors kids, when the parents came home, the mom said she needed to run to 7-11 real quick and said she would just drop me in front of my house- litterally 50 feet door to door- I instictually put on my seat belt and my neighbor was like "did you want to come to the store with me?" She saw me putting on my belt and thought I was going with her for the ride but it was just force of habit.

Re: Seatbelts

I always wear a seatbelt in the front seat and if you're a passenger in the front, you must wear it as well. I've always been a stickler for that.

My DH and I have discussed how we should make it a habit to wear the belts in the backseats as well. I do on occasion, depending on who's driving, but it should become a regular habit for me.

Our dogs are also restrained when in our vehicle. Not just for their safety, but for ours as well. A 60-100lb projectile can kill you.

There was only one time I didn't check to see if my frontseat passenger was wearing a belt and would you believe we ended up in a car accident. (We were T-boned on Hempstead Tpke, across from the Coliseum.) We were fortunate in that my frontseat passenger only ended up with a concussion from slamming into the windshield. His saving grace...his baseball hat, otherwise he would have been cut up pretty bad. My rear passenger ended up with some pretty nasty bruising from ending up on my rear floor.

This is also a sore subject for me when it comes to my sister. She doesn't restrain her dog which is only 11lbs. I'm always telling her that the dog should be restrained, but for whatever reason, she chooses not to heed my advice. I think she would be devistated if the dog fell to the floor and broke it's neck.
