I know how much you luuvvvvv my cupcakes...
the cake is gorgeous...but unnecessary with the tiering and all.
there is a bakery in Astoria that makes an AMAZING choco cake it's one tier but it looks nice and tastes delish, if Mike is a real chocoholic.

it's on Ditmars, right up the block from the train station going AWAY from Steinway (towards Fatty's and the park) I think it's called La Giulia or something like that.
the cake is soooo gooood.

I don't know if it's too far, but why don't you contact Tom from Audrey's Bakery? He can duplicate anything and is wonderful to work with.
My rehearsal dinner cake in the shape of a Mets/Yankees jersey was under $100 and that was for 35 people.

Try St Honore pastry shop in Port Washington they do fondant cakes that are pretty elaborate and it might cost closer to $100 than 200-300
