Anyone get bloodwork done...
before you 'officially' started to TTC. We are thinking around 1/08 to start so my OB suggested that at my September visit to do a 'pre-conception bloodwork' and start me on pre-natal vitamins. Is this a new thing nowadays?

I didn't have any pre-conception bloodwork done but my doctor did prescribe pre-natals. I just started taking them on Sunday & have not had a problem!

I did. I took prenatals, and doc sent me for blood testing for Cystic Fibrosis and a genetic blood disorder that's in my family.

Nope. My Dr. just gave me a prescription for prenatals
and told me to start taking them one month before we
start TTC.

yes because I was worried because my sister has PCOS. Initially they were not until I explained my worries. They did see potential problems but adviced me as long as I was getting AF to try for a year on my own.

I had blood work done for genetic diseases (before we wre married)but not for hormones and stuff like that. After 6 months of TTC, I had bloodwork done specifically for TTC and then again after our first series of artificial inseminations.

I discussed TTC with my GYN at length b/c I was on the pill and wanted a timeline to stop taking them, as well as how long to wait before TTC after stopping. He gave me those timelines, told me to take folic acid and call him when I got two lines! No bloodwork at all.

Yes, when I saw my GYN in November and told her we would start TTC in Spring, she had me get bloodwork up for genetic disorders (Ashkenazi Jewish related). It seemed weird to me too to do it so far before, but now its out of the way.

I had bloodwork done to see if I was still immune to Rubella. Apparantly, if you aren't, you need to have a vaccination and you have to wait a month before you can start TTC. I told my DR I would be trying this year, so that is why he did it.

IMO I would have bloodwork run before just in case anything is wrong. It's better than wasting time wondering what's wrong and then having to resolve the issue later on. Good Luck!
