Update on my situation
This should probably be posted on the IF board, but I'm still not ready to make the transition over there...
Yesterday DH and I went to another OB/GYN because I felt that my doctor wasn't:
1. providing the proper treatment or rather monitoring me on the medication
2. was too fast to diagnose me with PCOS
3. The office suks royally and I just overall dislike the place.
I am in LOVE with this doctor we saw yesterday. She was so paitient and warm and gentle with us. Which was important because I'm such a big baby about doctors. She was shocked that my current doctor gave me the meds she did without doing any testing (other than a blood test) first. She explained to me that just because I hadn't gotten my period in a couple of months aside from some spotting here an there, that it can take up to a year for my body to regulate and I WILL get a period on my own without the help of Provera. She also tried to make me feel better about my age (just about 36) She instructed me to NOT do my second round of meds this month, but did give me a prescription for Metformin which will help regulate my insulin (and will probably help with some weight loss as I can't seem to lose anything no matter what I do) as well as get me to ovulate on my own. She wants me to go for another bloodworkup to check my insulin and glucose levels and I am going back in 2 weeks for a pelvic u/s to check my ovaries and confirm or not confirm the PCOS (somethiing my current doc said I did NOT need to do even though we asked her about it). Once my medical file is in the hands of the new doctor, and she has a chance to review it, she wants to see me again for a follow up. She also instructed me to do OPKs every day (even though I'm on CD36) because she is confident that I will ovulate.
She also wrote me a script for an HSG but I can't do that test until I get my period. She even wrote me a script of Ativan (a type of xanex) for me to take before hand because of my extreme medical anxiety.
All in all it was a very positive experience and I feel almost like a huge weight has been lifted off my shoulders. I do need to face the possibility that there may not be a 2007 baby in my future though.

Re: Update on my situation
Good luck and don't feel like that. There are MANY women on here and all over that have gotten pregnant with PCOS. From what I have read it is one of the "easier" infertility problems to overcome. Obviously, it doesn't seem easier to youy but I believe the success rates are quite high! GL!!

Re: Update on my situation
That sounds really positive. You need an MD you can talk to and that will take your questions and feelings seriously. Congrats oin being lucky enough to find one, and good luck with the upcoming testing!

Thank goodness you finally got the answers you need. It seems as if your new doctor knows exactly how to treat you both medically and emotionally.
