Help/Opinion
In the world of TMI . . . I'm 99% sure I have developed a bladder infection from all the BD. I have scripts to clear it up but before taking it I thought I would call the MD and make sure it is safe just in case we are PG. While I wait for MD to call I do web search on the meds. Both of them say that PG women shouldn't take unless absolutely necessary, and all the risks should be discussed with MD. Then MD's office calls back and says it is fine to take the meds during PG.
Would you take them?????
ETA: This is the actual warning:
During pregnancy, this medication should be used only when clearly needed. Discuss the risks and benefits with your doctor.

Re: Help/Opinion
Did you tell them what you read? I would call them up and tell them that you read it was not safe and see what they say Take a test to see if you are PG then you will have a beeter idea of what to do

Re: Help/Opinion
Which doctor said it was ok to take? Your internist or OB/GYN? I would rely more on my OB/GYN for something like this.

Re: Help/Opinion
Call your Ob/Gyn & see what they say. I know that it is not ideal to take meds while PG, but a UTI while PG can also be dangerous if left untreated.
Feel better

If you are PG how far along would you be? I say take the meds and nip the infection in the bud...

Re: Help/Opinion
What are the medications? Some meds work on a part of the bacteria that humans don't even have, so they are safe to take. The literature says only to take it if necessary during pregnancy, because there are no well controlled studies on PG women. You can FM me with the name of the drugs if you don't want to post them here and I can tell you if it is actually safe to take or not.

If you're 5 weeks, your HCG should absolutely show up on a test. I say test. If it's a BFN, take the meds but maybe continue to test every other day (while on the meds) until/unless you get AF or a BFP. At any time you know you're preggo, I'd personally stop.
If you are preggo but it's not yet showing up on a test, you are most likely still early enough that the fetus is not sharing your bloodstream yet.
