Just tell them you are pg - I think they use a different novacaine, I'm positive they did on me.

They use special novicane. Don't think you can get sweet gas.

I've had dental work done and my OB sent over a list to my dentist of what I could have and couldn't have.

They gave me a novacaine with no adrenaline which would not harm the baby and to tell you truth I liked it better than the regular one with the adrenaline.

Absolutely No Nitrous!!! I am a dental hygienist. Nitrous can cause spontaneous abortions. Many dentists want you to stay away from epinephrine in novacaine as well. Please check with your OB before anything.

According to my Dr low doses of Novacaine or xylocaine (sp?) are OK, but no sweet air or injectable sedatives. No work until tri 2.

Agreed!!!! and if you need a deep cleaning- meaning you have periodontal disease- you MUST have that under control prior to getting pg, your hormones alone will increase the infection and you run the risk of having a low birth weight baby/aqnd other health problems. If you could try to get all work done before getting pg, if not def get those gums back to health and tell them to use carbocaine- its not as strong as lidocaine ( novacaine) but you cant have epinepherine. I am a dental hygienist tooChat Icon Best of luck to you!
