LASIK Eye Surgery
What is the average price nowadays for both eyes. Went to TLC and was quoted $5200. Is that the average price?

Re: LASIK Eye Surgery
I paid about $3700 at North Shore Eye Care 2 years ago - they gave me a discount because I'm a teacher...so it would have been about $1500 more.
But most places offer a 0% 2 year payment plan, which made it VERY affordable.

I don't remember specifically but I think mine was around $4000 last May at Stahl in Garden City. I got a discount but I don't remember why (maybe bc I work at Hofstra but it seemed like they had a lot of discounts for various reasons).

Re: LASIK Eye Surgery
I got mine done in Buffalo. With the insurance discount (15%) it was about 3800. I was able to do the 0% financing for 2 years through Care Credit. Best decision I ever made!
ETA: I got the all-laser LASIK which was the most expensive one but with the fastest healing time.

I paid close close to 5 at tlc almost 7 years ago so it looks like the price didn't go up much.

Re: LASIK Eye Surgery
Just as a side note....getting the LASIK was one of the best things I've ever done. It literally let me see for the first time in my life. I got glasses when I was 7 because the nurse noticed I couldn't see during an eye test. After I got those glasses, I went outside and realized that you can actually see blades of grass...before that, it just looked like a big green spot on the ground. So I don't know that I was ever able to really see until those glasses. My vision kept getting worse as I got older. I had bifocals by the time I was 10....and I was never able to attain 20/20 vision with glasses or contacts. 2 years ago, I decided to go for it and I just remember sitting up from the surgery and seeing the clock on the wall....like seeing the numbers and being able to tell time from across the room. That has NEVER happened before....and it was seconds after the surgery was complete. The following day, I had my check up and my vision was at 20/40. The day after that I drove myself to work and was seeing perfectly. I now have 20/20 vision. It's like magic and a miracle all rolled into one. Just amazing!! The worst parts for me.....not wearing makeup for a few weeks after, and having to wear my glasses (not contacts) for a few weeks before. There was no pain, no discomfort (other than some eye dryness), and it was all done within 30 minutes. I totally recommend getting it done.

LASIK Eye Surgery
Palebride - I'm glad you had a great experience! It seems like most people that had it done feel they'd do it again. I, on the other hand, do not. I got mine last year and I wish I could go back to before. I think it's great that I can see (most of the time), but I have chronic dry eye now and it takes my eyes a while to adjust when I wake up in the morning (blurry for reading, but can see everything else). I'm thrilled though that I didn't get halos b/c I was really afraid that would happen. I think my night vision is more clear than it was before.

LASIK Eye Surgery
I'm too scared to get it done. Even though all my friends who got it done rave about it and have no regrets... I still cant get on board. I wish I could.

Re: LASIK Eye Surgery
Had mine done at Stahl, as did my son (you have to be 18). Best thing I ever did for myself! After insurance, paid $2400. My GF had it also done there, her husband is in the Steam Fitters union..it was covered 100%.

Re: LASIK Eye Surgery
I got it done 12 years ago and it was about 3k so I can imagine the price went up since then. I believe I got it done when I was too young (I was 20 at the time) so my vision did worsen over time. I definitely need glasses to drive. However my DH got his done when he was around 25 and he still has perfect vision.

I was EXACLTY the same. Until March 18, 2016
I had laser eye surgery. Best decision EVER!
We paid cash (tax refund). DH is NYPD so we were given a discounted price (lower than the 5% off advertised price) it was $3750.
I am 10000% happy with the doctor and entire staff! I used Dr Mauro at North Shore Eye

really?! that's cheap. DH is FDNY, so i would assume he would get the same discount. did DH get it too, or they gave the discount to you even though he didn't get his done? still scared, but i really feel like it'll be worth it in the end for me.

Re: LASIK Eye Surgery
Thank you all. I guess that is the going price. Not sure if I should go else where to see if they quote me a different price.

If you go to North Shore Eye and tell them someone recommended you, they will match the price. At least that's what they did for me. I chose them after a bride on LIW recommended them and they matched her price for me ($3,750) even though it was years later.
