Inappropriate pics on fb. Say something or mind my business

Two family members of mine that I'm not close to as they live OOS are constantly posting pics of their kids in just diapers. One is a little under 1 and the other is 2. I don't think I've ever seen them have clothes on. It is what it is I guess bc people have commented and she just laughs it off.

However, another family member just posted a pic of her 6 year old dd and 11 month nephew in the bath and about the only thing covered is her vagina and his penis. This really bothers me because there are so many sickos in the world. I want to message her but dh said leave it be. It's really bothering me.

Advice?

no advise, just a thought, once was a time where everyone took pics of their kids naked in the bath tub. Growing up all of my friends including my mom took pic of us in just diapers and bathing, kinda sad the way society looks at it now

I have no issues with the pics it's just having them on social media and both their accounts are public. Maybe I'm just being overly sensitive.

I would leave it be. I posted a pic of my boys in the tub when they were both under 3 and somebody said something to me in the comments. I rolled my eyes and moved on. People see more at the beach. I know in this case it's more the 6 year old girl being topless, but I would still just let it be.

I didn't mean you had an issue, just in general the way the collective we have to be worried who might be looking.

I'd keep my mouth shut but I agree that those pics sound completely inappropriate. The things people put on social media absolutely floor me.

I *personally* don't like to post pics like that of my children on social media, I feel weird sharing pics of my kids in the tub or mostly naked however, many people seem to not care. It's just not my thing and ITA with you but I wouldn't say anything, it's really not your business what someone else posts. I'd leave it alone so you don't cause any problems with your family. Myob. I also don't personally think it's the worst thing they could post, and I'm not sure why the diaper pics would even make anyone bat an eye

Re: Inappropriate pics on fb. Say something or mind my business

While I agree, those pictures would probably make me a bit uncomfortable (especially on social media where anyone can see), I think you need to MYOB. If anything, I would just unfollow her posts so it doesn't show up on your news feed. But saying something will just make you look like a b!tch and will upset her. If people have commented in the past and she continues to do it, she clearly doesn't care or see an issue with it, so it will likely just piss her off if you say anything.

Re: Inappropriate pics on fb. Say something or mind my business

Do you really think you saying something will prompt them to stop or remove the pics? Probably not. You're probably going to just start drama where there is none. Unfortunately, this is your issues, not theirs

What's inappropriate about a diaper pic? Or kids in the tub covered up?

I really believe that it should be illegal for parents to do that to being with. Posting half naked pictures of your kids for the world to see when they can't consent (or even grasp the concept of the internet) should be illegal. Some parents think it's harmless but those images are there forever (even if you remove them). We shouldn't be allowed to do that to our kids. What if they don't want their naked baby butts on the internet when they are older? Yeah, some parents think it's cute now but what if it makes them feel violated? How do you give them back their sense of privacy?

I totally agree. It's not the child's choice to post or not post the pictures. We have to respect their privacy as well.

This.

And, I'm surprised anyone would think this is inappropriate or be worried about the kids feeling violated as adults for pics of them as kids in a tub.

Of course I wouldn't show their privates but there is nothing wrong with a tub picture if their privates are covered. The picture, the activity is innocent. They will only feel "violated" later if we make them feel ashamed now. And, what's to be ashamed of? I just don't get it.

I highly doubt they will grow up and think their privacy was violated for some half naked pictures of them when they were tiny LOL. I have umpteen pictures of me in the tub or running around naked from when I was very young. I have never felt violated and I don't think I was violated by the people who developed the pictures. Silly.

You may think it's silly but someone else might not.
It shouldn't be our choice to make. The images are of a person and that person should be the one to decide how much of their private life is made public. You never know what will make someone feel violated which is why we shouldn't be making decisions that are irreversible.

I feel violated if someone posts a picture of me on FB at a wedding with drunk eyes and a shiny forehead. I certainly don't want my bathtub pics as a baby out there. Your level of comfort is obviously different then mine but everyone being so different is why it should be up the individual to decide.
