Actual pictures into a digital format
I have a lot of pictures that I would like to preserve, what is the best way to get these into a digital format?

Scan them. Photographers will also do that for you. They can either just put pics on a CD or make it into a "video" with music.

I bought a specific scanner for photos - it allows you to scan more than one at a time. I then put them on Flickr so I don't have it taking up space on my computer.
