Is it ok to eat???
I opened a jar of sauce last night for pasta and forgot to put it in the refrigerator. I realized it this morning around around 9 and put in the fridge. Safe to eat or should I toss it?
Update: Thank you for the replies. I took a chance and ate some sauce yesterday afternoon and today, I am not dead.

I'd probably use it up that day but I wouldn't give it to my kids. I don't think I'd throw it out if it was brand new, opened only once & the lid was on the whole time. If it looked or smelled funny though, I would throw it out.

I'd throw it out. It's sealed and when you open it, you introduce bacteria into it. In 2 hours you will be in the danger zone for prime bacteria formation (I did the Nassau County Department of Health Certificate).
Then again the sugar and preservatives could help.
But I'd toss it.

So yes, don't be so quick to judge.
Some homemade sauce that people make and are so high and mighty about, actually tastes like shit. Not everyone is as good a cook as they think they are

Wasn't directed at you in particular.
I just meant in general some people get VERY uppity about jarred sauce.
Not you in particular- I know you were just kidding in this case.
