Jelly!

So apparently this is how we express jealousy now.

It ranks right up there in my mind with GORG for gorgeous, TOTES for totally and ADORBS for adorable.

I am not sure which I hate more, but I think it's Adorbs. That one makes me want to poke my eyes out wiht a pencil every time I see it. I can actually feel the anger and aggravation bubble up in me every time I see that word
But i digress.. ... Chat Icon

So I'm scrolling through FB and one of the people on my feed who feels that the purpose of FB is to report every time she eats a meal or takes a shitt, posts that she is eating tuna on a bagel at some bagel place.

Someone replies with- Jelly!!

Her response- No jelly! Just tuna.

The girl responds- Um no, I meant I was jealous that you are eating that.

Crickets.

I heart Facebook.

Re: Jelly!

These are some of the definitions urban dictionary gave me for "obvi":

"An abbreviation for 'obvious,' popular with people of limited intelligence, generally of the 13-year-old girl variety. Often used to refer to things that are only obvious by virtue of the mindless monotony of the user's life."

"An abbreviation of the word obviously used mainly when woman get drunk resulting in them becoming rather annoying and using only a part of there intelligence."

"Obvi is a concise derivative of the word obvious or obviously. It is pronounced "ov-ee" - easier said than read - and is popular among Brits. It came over to America and was pretty much spread 'round the US like an STD. Obvi was invented shortly after the English sent people to the US for colonization. The English were becoming more and more infuriated with these new colonists, and lost their patience with these rebels. A poor American was caught saying "obvi" on accident, and the Brits began to say it mockingly. Unfortunately, the mockers saw their foolish mockery become a worldwide trend. And a darn good one at that."

But if it was about that, it would have to be moved to the dining in and out board anyway.

any grown woman that speaks like that or posts like that on FB - I immediately think less of and will fully admit, I completely judge them for it.

You get a pass if you are 17 or under, over that age...knock that sh!t off.

What does tuna mean?

I don't think it means anything... I think she was posting about the food tuna and someone wrote "jelly" back as in they were jealous.

If tuna has some quirky alternate meaning... I quit.

The only time I've ever heard tuna used for anything other than the fish is when it was Jim Halpert's nickname on the office. Because he ate tuna that one time. Chat Icon

Yes, tuna just means the fish.
She posted that she was eating tuna on a bagel and this girl replied with "Jelly!"
And I guess this woman has never heard the use of jelly to mean jealous (she's SO lucky!) Chat Icon
and was like, no, no jelly on my bagel, just tuna.
Generational gap perhaps?

Yes, this!!!

Add 'bestie' to this list...I can't fuCcking stand that one either. No one past junior year in high school should be using that one.

I have a few friends on my FB feed who use this one hourly and think they sound 'cool'. No you are not cool at almost 40 years old throwing around the word 'bestie' - just no.
