Trump
TRUMP: Autism has become an epidemic. It has gotten totally out of control. I am totally in favor of vaccines. But I want smaller doses over a longer period of time. You take this little baby, and you pump--I mean, it looks like it's meant for a horse, not for a child. Just the other day, a 2-year-old child went to have the vaccine, and got a fever; now is autistic. I'm in favor of vaccines, do them over a longer period of time, same amount. And I think you're going to see a big impact on autism.

What scares me even more is that Putin thinks he is an intelligent and bright man and supports Trump.
Of course Putin supports him, he knows that Trump as President would be our country's downfall and he would be the lone superpower left in the world!

Re: Trump
Trump seems to think he can insult and lie his way to office. I hope that's not what happens. And I'm sick of the media covering him at the expense of candidates who are more qualified. What have we really heard from him, other than insults to women, Muslims, Mexicans, etc? I have not heard him say anything meaningful about education or foreign policy, or anything significant.
FactCheck is really the only site I consider because they are unbiased (unlike CNN, Fox, Msnbc, etc.) and this is their take on Trump. If you are thinking he'd be a good president, please take a look.

he is a wacko! I do not understand how anyone could vote for him. It really boggles my mind when I see all these people out there supporting him. He should never be allowed to talk about autism again. It's awful that he gives miss information about vaccines and autism.

I am a parent of a son with autism. I know there are the anti-vaxxers ala Jenny McCarthy. But I noticed signs of my son's autism before he even had the MMR vaccine which is supposedly the biggest trigger of autism. In fact he was diagnosed at 19 months before he even got the MMR. I do believe there is some sort of genetic component to all of this. I just don't like that people are trying to scare others into not vaccinating their kids... you hear about measles outbreaks now.

I recently read that they are finding a link between a specific protein and autism, I wish I recalled what it was, but I found it fascinating, hopeful and invigorating with regards to autism research and hopefully finding a treatment and cure.

Re: Trump
What completely BAFFLES me is people who say, I respect Trump for speaking his mind. I like what he says. He says what we are all thinking.
The problem here is that Trump doesn't have to answer to anyone.
He is a hatemonger.
He is a racist.
He is a bigot.
If you support what he says and how he says and who he says it to, you in turn, are a hatermonger, a racist, and a bigot. Own it. I'm so sick of the fragility and tears of people who talk out of both sides of their mouth..."I support Trump but I'm not a racist and I have black friends!"
Sorry. That's a load of shit.

It is so funny that whenever I read a quote of his I automatically go to my Trump voice -- I can like, hear him in my head!

Trump
I am for Cruz. I like Trump when he is not offending, I think he would be a strong leader, but his mouth is just too scary.
I am also not sure he would win against Hillary or Sanders, and that scares me even more. This country is doomed if one of them are elected. We may as well just barricade ourselves in our homes and never see another public place again, because their defense plan, or lack of defense plan is terrifying.
I was for Rubio for awhile, but Cruz won me over in the last 2 debates.
Cruz 2016!

Out of genuine curiosity, why would we be "doomed" if one of them became president? Both have political experience, and would handle themselves a helluva lot better as a leader than Trump.

I just don't agree with MOST of what they have to say, and how they would handle issues facing our country, I do not feel it would help our country. That is why I am Republican :)
I am not sure if you read my response, but I am not voting for Trump or Rubio, I am voting for Cruz.
There are a lot of us Republicans out there, so it must not be so strange for me to think they would do a better job than the current Democratic candidates. I know this site is mainly democratic, but let's stick to the topic, I really don't feel like debating my Republican stance.
Thanks!

Nobody is saying it's strange to be a Republican. What was asked was why you feel we would we be DOOMED if a democrat was elected. I am a Democrat and in all likelihood will vote that way but I don't think we are DOOMED if a Republican, other than Trump, is elected. I do think we are DOOMED if Trump is elected because he has no concept of what it means to respect viewpoints of those who do not agree with him. THAT is one of the most important things that a president has to do for America to remain a world power. He doesn't have to agree, but you cannot expect to play on the world stage if you are just going to say degrading and derogatory things about people who do not agree with you. It's called diplomacy and Trump has no interest in that.
