I am for Cruz. I like Trump when he is not offending, I think he would be a strong leader, but his mouth is just too scary.
I am also not sure he would win against Hillary or Sanders, and that scares me even more. This country is doomed if one of them are elected. We may as well just barricade ourselves in our homes and never see another public place again, because their defense plan, or lack of defense plan is terrifying.
I was for Rubio for awhile, but Cruz won me over in the last 2 debates.
Cruz 2016!
Out of genuine curiosity, why would we be "doomed" if one of them became president? Both have political experience, and would handle themselves a helluva lot better as a leader than Trump.
I just don't agree with MOST of what they have to say, and how they would handle issues facing our country, I do not feel it would help our country. That is why I am Republican :)
I am not sure if you read my response, but I am not voting for Trump or Rubio, I am voting for Cruz.
There are a lot of us Republicans out there, so it must not be so strange for me to think they would do a better job than the current Democratic candidates. I know this site is mainly democratic, but let's stick to the topic, I really don't feel like debating my Republican stance.
Thanks!
Nobody is saying it's strange to be a Republican. What was asked was why you feel we would we be DOOMED if a democrat was elected. I am a Democrat and in all likelihood will vote that way but I don't think we are DOOMED if a Republican, other than Trump, is elected. I do think we are DOOMED if Trump is elected because he has no concept of what it means to respect viewpoints of those who do not agree with him. THAT is one of the most important things that a president has to do for America to remain a world power. He doesn't have to agree, but you cannot expect to play on the world stage if you are just going to say degrading and derogatory things about people who do not agree with you. It's called diplomacy and Trump has no interest in that.
Well if you read all of the comments, if you let in on the fact that you were Republican, or if you said you liked Trump, you were asked how you could think like that, or you were a bigot, or not intelligent.
Everyone has their own viewpoint. This thread was not asking why I feel such a way about the democratic candidates, it was pertaining to Trump. I answered, and threw in my own little feeling about being doomed, just like you democrats did when someone supported Trump or swayed republican.
I don't feel like debating, or being jumped on for my opinion. But just read back the comments, because degrading and derogatory is being used on both ends, not just mine.

Doom and gloom posts are not productive either here or in the debates. I think Trump as president would be a disaster through and through, because he's a financier and not a diplomat. I think he may have entered the race to stir things up, but he's such a megalomaniac that he's not going to give up. I also think that his popularity is a sign of people's disgust with the current political climate (at least, I hope it is).
For me, as a woman myself and as the mother of a daughter, women's rights is my foremost issue and I plan to vote for a woman. I lean towards Hillary because Fiorina is not a strong advocate for women's right and seems to be running on a platform that there are no women's rights issues.

I cannot see how it's possible that someone with no policymaking experience could ever be president. I dont think his views are realistic ("I'd get rid of the gangs") and ("I would bomb the shit out of them") aren't real solutions. It'sa what people say when they're arguing over a kitchen table about world events. Sure we should eradicate gang violence and terrorism, but these aren't solutions. He is feeding into what the average American wants to hear. And it's different than a politician's typical speech, so it's different and appealing. How could the RNC ever nominate him?

I think the RNC would hire hit men to get rid of Trump if that becomes a real possibility.

Trump
DH was in London recently on business. He said the news outlets there report him as a serious candidate. He said people he was working with were asking him what kind of candidate he was because they don't look at him the same way we do. If he's running for president they put him on the same level as any other presidential candidates when they report. He said he was floored.

As a democrat, I don't think there are any strong leaders unfortunately. I agree that Trump would be a disaster but the problem is there are so many racist, misogynistic people in the world that he is a real threat. I really think the electoral process needs a huge overhaul. As does the political process. I mean just alone, look at the amount of politicians that have been ARRESTED in New York this year because of corruption. Its disgusting and frightening for everything.

My theory is that he doesn't really want to be president (because really? why would he?). He started this whole thing because he is a ego maniac and as he has gained more and more popularity, his statements have gotten more and more offensive and ridiculous. Ironically, he continues to gain in popularity, but that plays into the plan. It makes it a guarantee that the RNC won't nominate him but he still has the lead in the polls so he can avoid actually being president but blame the RNC and the dysfunction of our political system.
It's either that or he was planted by the DNC so that he would cause those moderates to abandon the Republican party and give support to the Democrat candidate(s).

Trust me, I read your response. You said we are doomed if Hillary or Bernie is elected. I get that you want to vote for Cruz, but if Trump is the candidate, you won't have that opportunity.
So, do you think that Trump would honestly be a better President than Hillary or Bernie if those were your choices?
I'm registered as a democrat, but am open to any party if I like a candidate. I had been hoping to go into this election with an open mind and favored no particular candidate. But, I just can not get behind any of the GOP candidates.

Same here. I am a Democrat but ideally I don't want to always vote along party lines. In 2000 I really liked John McCain (he was a different candidate in 2008) and would have voted for him over Al Gore had he been nominated. But I have such issues with this crop of candidates.
I want them to stop imposing their religion on us, leave gay marriage alone, and allow women to make their own choices about their bodies. There are so many bigger problems to solve.

I agree with all of this! This has been my view from the beginning and with each outrageous comment he makes I believe it more and more.

I have to be honest, there is not one candidate at this point that I am thrilled with ...from either party. I feel like I would be voting for the lesser of two evils no matter who got in from either side. It's sad
